I remember when that ammo can of one week of food retailed for $39.99 and frequently went on sale for $29.99. I also remember when LT food storage was dirt cheap. Being a prepper before prepping was cool was much cheaper! If I was making this, I would plan to check it every 6 months to a year. You could put instant rice to save fuel, a carton of shelf stable milk, trail mix etc. It's not set it and forget it my way, but it's cheaper and much more tasty! I think I would also up it a few dollars and add some cans of chicken. Good video Steve.

I want to thank you, Pastor for this and other videos you've done on this topic. Everyone else, even Pastor's are selling these kits at ungodly prices. In fact, one of the commercials that came up during your video was for 4PAtriots who now has a President's day sale. Only $2,300 for a kit with over $1k in free stuff. I fell for their hype a year or 2 ago for a 3 month kit at $499 or $599 only to learn their food is not sufficient to keep a person healthy for that period of time. They operate on fear and offer you, via email, after ordering lots of stuff @ ridiculous prices and tell you how smart you are, what a good provider you are for being stupid. It is like that Sweepstakes company that never goes away and keeps offer you "exclusives" that don't compare with price & quality of even Walmart. THANK YOU, PASTOR. Great ideas. I don't like expensive powdered food and love you for your sharing great ideas. God bless you.

I am so doing this!!! Thanks you for the video. I was surprised that these kits weren’t freeze dried food and some dinners with meat. I’m going to make a couple of these and keep putting away the Mountain House meals.

I like this idea but I would add some dried fruit. Great video, Steve. I'm not about fancy, I'm about basic, inexpensive effectiveness, in other words, wise prepping. You have good ideas here, Sir. Thank you. Have a great day.

I have been eating "uncooked" oatmeal my whole life. Just add water or milk, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and eat. No cooking needed. Have eaten it this way for over 60 years!!

Solid Advice. Makes the task affordable too.
Btw, Aldi’s generic brand “knorr” is 79 cents.
Aldi seasonally sells cello-bag of peanut butter powder and generic nutella chocolate powder for $2.64.
No one in my family likes the dried foods vs. the real thing. Best to pay for items my family will actually eat vs. sit in on shelf.

only need a twenty gallon tote for a month's worth of food for six adult servings per day that are shelf stable. This can be accomplished with 350 dollars or less if you use dollar tree, walmart or your other local bulk or big box stores. these meal plan includes two hearty dinner meals and a serving of fruit per person per day, You could include a third meal per day if you budget 350 dollars. The same thing can be accomplished with 250 or less if you are not a picky eater or have special dietary needs. There are ways to make all the packaged food low salt. Example a family size pouch of Idahoan or BearCreek Brocoli cheese potato soup mix you add a cup of instant potato flakes to increase the number of servongs from 8 to 16.that also automatically dilutes the amount of salt per serving, keep thinking outside the box and you can create a fun yummy monthly emergency food reserve.

I went to walmart here in Nothern Indiana today. All pasta out, rice barely any, no gallon jugs of water, chicken very low, no whole chickens at all. Ramen low and pulled to the front, Canned dog food only the most expensive left. Ra

I don't think an O2 absorbers will work without a rubber gasket… swap a gamma lid bucket for the tote (or just rotate stock an ignore the O2).
I load my tote with spoons, paper plates/bowls, a glass jar to nuke water in a hotel room, etc… a picnic tote.

I brought food grade buckets from petco from California it was like $6 or so each 5 gallon bucket. Took a week to get shipped to my house but worth it. I have 1 gallon mylar bags with rice sealed with oxygen absorbers in there. Only was able to buy 4 food grade buckets.

Went to the local hannaford near my job since I had to work at the office today picked up porterhouse steak over 1 lb for about $7. Had not seen prices like this for a bit. Saw a ribeye steak for $8. Cheaper meat than my local hannaford near my home. 6mins drive for home hannaford work hannaford 20mins. I usually check the prices of steak so see if there are decent price ones.i usually get some decent cuts for $5-$8 I avoid the $14-$35 cuts of steaks. Too expensive for 1 piece. Hudson Valley ny. My part of the freezer is just fill of steaks. I like steak better than pork and chicken. Usually the steaks are only slightly more expensive than pork and chicken. So I usually just get a bunch of steaks as my freezer meat.

I agree about places like that ripping people off for buckets but what I do is choose individual items to build my own monthly survival food collection. That way I'm getting my moneys worth and my choice of food. I also put together my own food buckets and homemade mre's. Its cheaper and I get to choose exactly what I want instead of taking whatevers in a pre packaged one

Dehydrating celery, onions, carrots, mushrooms…etc. packing mylar tuna packs, beef jerky, spam etc. Mac n cheese, Knorr pasta packs, spices to avoid food fatigue, dehydrate fruits like apples, bananas, strawberries…dehydrate frozen veggies like a mixed variation…I made 6 totes this way, and each tote will feed 2 people for one week. I have them easily accessible, in case I have to jet out quickly.

One thing I don't see mentioned much is many of the big box stores and brands push the quick and easy instant type foods with bad and some truly horrific ingredients that do the opposite of fostering good health and in fact are designed to harm the human body and bring about sickness and generate poor performance. When there is the type emergency where you need emergency foods and supplies, the human body will be tired and stressed due to lack of sleep, possible over exertion, etc. and especially at this time, needs food intake at maximum efficiency to perform well and deal with fatigue and stress. You want intake thats high in nutrients, vitamins and minerals, not sugar, fat and carb junk. I would suggest examining all food ingredients and take care to pass on those products with ingredients like heavy metals, alum. etc. blue and red food dyes, (basically anything you cant pronounce); “natural flavors” (my understanding is this is a code word for human embryo and human meat byproducts). Look it up, do your research. Most of the brands at your grocery store are owned by just six or so mega corporations that are part of the bad side, who want you slow, docile or ded. If you're looking to buy emergency foods then your probably Waking Up. Do it smart, informed & healthy.

I think it's a fun thing to put together these buckets. I get 5gal buckets for 1$ each then start figuring out meals. I put 1lb spaghetti & dehydrated spaghetti sauce, crackers & small jar peanut butter, those tin foil packages of tuna & chicken, a small baggie of chicken boullion, plastic spoons, paper towels, matches, a can of spam, powdered milk, raisins, drink mixes, tea, coffee, and its just a lot of fun to do. Oh, and I Canned ghee in 8 oz jars. Stick those in for fats. If people come knocking, I'll give them a bucket. If I trust them.

Steve, excellent. We did something similar, but not as thought-out. Good selection, can always add small items to it, and still come in under the PS price. I like Patriot Supply, but they and others are pricey. Aimed at those that dont know how or what to put together. You just fixed that problem. We thank you.

Great video! one thing i did learn with some long time given "bugs will start to germinate inside the packages" i have solved a good part of that problem by putting the packages in a freezer for about 2 days first, then put it for storage. Also i have found my rats around this place love to CHEW right thru plastic boxes; However the 5 gallons buckets from home depot and lowes WORK GREAT, because they also come with a good seal on top; Dont forget to lay out RAT poison just because the rodents are very smart, and have great noses I dont care where you HIDE your food they WILL FIND IT

Columbus, Ohio. 12/14/2022. Kroger. Bad gaps in pop on sale (but only those). The produce section looked good. The cheese looked good. Gas was $2.99. I got a head of lettuce. $1.79. It was really fresh. The meat was there. I did not see anything that had me saying, "OMG".
The people were casually browsing and not panicking.
I have had more trouble buying what I want online for pickup than I am going into the store and finding it.
I went to this store two weeks in a row on two separate Mondays. Not a lot of trouble here. Might be because it is a major city.

I recommend using the new EZY storage containers, I found them at Big Lots locally. They have a nice seal in the lid with a latch at both sides and ends(4). They do cost more but they seem stable and, As they say on them, Waterproof. They seem to lock better than ANY other storage container I have tried for long term storage but only with more time can I be sure but I would still recommend checking them out, They are available online just beware of price gouging.

Perhaps another potential alternative, Walmart sells "Augason Farms 48-Hour 4-Person Emergency Food Supply, 95 oz" for online price of ~$21.00. Our local has them in the store. Seems comparable to the one week PS you mentioned. 4 people X 2 days = 1 person 8 days so basically 1 Week.
