Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc., doing business as simply Cracker Barrel, is an American chain of restaurant and gift stores with a Southern country theme. The company was founded by Dan Evins in 1969. Its first store was in Lebanon, Tennessee; the corporate offices are located at a different facility in the same city. The chain's stores were at first positioned near Interstate Highway exits in the Southeastern and Midwestern United States, but expanded across the country during the 1990s and 2000s. As of September 16, 2020, the chain operates 663 stores in 45 states.
Cracker Barrel's menu is based on traditional Southern cuisine, with appearance and decor designed to resemble an old-fashioned general store. Each location features a front porch lined with wooden rocking chairs, a stone fireplace, and decorative artifacts from the local area. Cracker Barrel partners with country music performers. It engages in charitable activities, such as its assistance to victims of Hurricane Katrina and injured war veterans.
During the early 1990s, the company became the subject of controversy when founder and CEO Dan Evins instituted an official company policy prohibiting the hiring of any individual whose "sexual preferences fail to demonstrate normal heterosexual values." Following massive public backlash and large shareholders such as the New York City Employee Retirement System threatening to vote out the entirety of upper management, the company reversed the policy.

I got introduced to okra by a Nigerian guy who cooked up a traditional meal from his hometown consisting of a lamb and okra stew….absolutely delicious!
Never been able to reproduce it, but man! what a meal!

Down South Cracker Barrel, IHOP are always packed. Up North they get a lot business but we still prefer the locally owned diners.
Their breakfast food is one of my fave things. Pancakes are so good plus they give you these little bottles of maple syrup.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Cracker Barrel. Sometimes it gets a bad wrap for not being healthy but people love it for a reason! Make sure you try the breakfasts. I still go there at night to have pancakes and sausage when I need some comfort food! Cheers
When I was a kid, I hated okra. Now, I love it fried up golden-brown and crispy!

Georgia girl here. We love Cracker Barrel. Please try their breakfast menu. It is served all day. You will love it.
The potato casserole is off the charts and my favorite thing they make. Their fried shrimp was surprisingly good too.

As much as I detest chain restaurants, I gotta admit, it's hard to go wrong at Cracker Barrel.
I am originally from the South- love Cracker Barrel for home cooking style/comfort food. Now living in California and sadly no Cracker Barrels here 😞
I don't care for their catfish, maybe i just don't like catfish, but I love their lemon pepper grilled trout, or their fried cod fish are sooo good!
I'm from Georgia and my favorite thing is the chicken fried steak with the hash brown casserole.

Catfish is a fresh water fish, often found in muddy rivers, eating stuff from the bottom of rivers.
Okra is a vegetable popular in the South, often used in Gumbo and also deep fried.
If you get a chance to have pecan pie, that's a must.
