I've always been able to get good hb eggs even from the top of the stove. The thing the IP does is make it easier. Also, I love soft boiled eggs and could never get them right in boiling water. I use 3-3-5 on the IP and they come out perfect.

Didn't you have that egg accessory for the instant pot? Do you ever use that? I had been using the 5/5/5 or 6/6/6 (cook time/slow release time/ice bath time) method but find a lot of times I get overcooked eggs. Yesterday I tried for the first time just doing 8 mins then quick release and I think they came out better. I might go 7 mins next time. Was surprised you only did 6 mins.

    Yours DID come as perfection.
The method I use for perfection is placing 9 eggs on the OXO Good Grips Silicone Egg Rack,Yellow, which I place on top of the trivet (my preference)/water and press the egg button I have set for 3 minutes. Quick release, lid off, let eggs stay in the cooker 3 minutes. Then put into cold water (so not too hot to handle) to peel each one, setting back into the water till done peeling all. Then I empty the water bowl and place the peeled eggs in a low Pyrex covered container to refrigerate. I have learned that by my peeling the eggs before refrigerating, my yolks do not turn green. With the shells on, they would turn green and greener when longer in the frig. Not saying it works for others but works perfect for me.
The reason I let set in the cooker is my thinking they still cook and 3 minutes was done. Would use 4 if not done, but have to use your own judgement.
By the way, that is with the 6qt Instant pot dual plus I bought 3 years ago. I just purchased the new 2021 Instant Pot Pro and LOVE it. Tried eggs the SAME way and put into my Favorites button #1 to just press once for the next time I do eggs. LOVE all the new features it has.

Thanks for the update! I've bookmarked this video and will recommend this one to people on the Instant Pot Community unless you want me to continue to recommend the first one I saw 3 years ago! When I recommend that one it's part of your IP Adventures playlist and exposes people to your other excellent videos!

IP eggs are always perfect and easy to peel. I also cook cut-up potatoes and eggs together so I can make potato salad (just put the eggs on top of the potatoes). Congrats on your first #shorts 😉

I use the egg setting on my 6qt duo. That is 5 minutes then natural release 2 1/2 minutes then quick release. That used to work fine but then the eggs weren't cooked through. Now I set it for 6 minutes and quick release after 2 minutes of natural release and once again the eggs are cooked through. I am wondering if my Instant pot is not heating like it did at first.
