Im not here because im vegan but i like them with sunflower oil and water from the potatoes
Id rather not eat mashed potatoes at all than eat it without butter.
I haven't tried going vegan but I'm sure there is a salty unhealthy vegan butter I could use.

Also, you can always use a good old fork or taditional potato masher instead of an immersion stick blender for a fluffy mash.

This did not work for me. The potatoes turned out closer to gluey than fluffy. Then I added lemon and I think it interacted with the turmeric to make the potatoes turn green. Total flop.
I've never thought to make mashed potatoes with a hand blender before. Nice trick!

I'm soo glad that I found this channel. LOL, I have been craving homemade mash potatoes. There are so many ways to flavor them.
Thanks so much for this recipe! I made these and I LOVED them. So easy and so creamy! I used basil, course salt, pepper, rosemary, oregano and cayenne to give them a bit of a kick. I saved the "broth" as recommended and then used some of that to make the fat-free gravy also featured on here. All was delicious!
A shame to add that lovely fresh basil to all that water. (Add it at the end.) Never use an immersion blender or blender of any type to make mashed potatoes. Makes them gummy.

Those ready chopped up potatoes kept in a plastic (!) container have lost their vit C content. Not a good idea at all!
Best vegan mashed potatoes I ever made : Sprouted silken tofu, nutrional yeast, salt, pepper, one raw garlic clove, vegan chicken bullion cube blended in a blender then add to steamed potatoes and mash with a hand masher add almond milk for smoother texture if desired. No fat, all, taste…but this seems way more economical. I am going to try this!
