I don't know why some people are giving you grief! Pay no mind! I have never seen your stew done that particular way but I think it makes sense putting the seasoning first. And it looked really good! And your veggies still had their color! Misery loves company for some! I'm subscribing because you went to the extra trouble of writing the recipe for us to see. I won't subscribe to people who don't! So thank you for that! Your fans will be asking for more!!

I sauté the beef browning it first then I add seasoning & liquid. Then pressure cook it for 20 minutes. After I add the vegetables I bring it back to pressure for 10 minutes . The meat comes out super tender and veggies as well. Without the meat falling apart or the veggies. 30 to 35 minutes total cooking. Perfect every time. I love my instant pot. Everything comes out flavorful In a short amount of time.and It's safe too. Thanks for sharing your style of making beef stew. It was interesting to watch… Have a great weekend!!

After reading comments and reading iNSTANT pot instructions… the manufacturer recommends not adding thickening agents prior to cooking as it could stick to bottom and burn during pressure cooking. On that note…I very carefully deglazed my flour-coated-beef crusted pot bottom before adding the liquid. Mfg instructions also indicate cook time of 15-20min for meat! I decided to try 20 with natural decompression for meat and 20 more minutes when veggies added Total cook time 40min + decompression time
FOLLOWUP: = DELICIOUS!! Meat was tender, tasty and veggies soft but not dissolved! Kids gobbled up too! Thanks for the recipe!!

Tried the Instant Pot for the first time and your recipe today and it turned out good.
The first time I've cooked something without setting the smoke alarm off.
Her who must be obeyed was impressed.

Why did you loose so much time? That would overcook everything you did. Ian just has the munchies, bad. That is NOT how to make a good beef stew in any pressure cooker. You should try to film something else. Stew is so easy and you made it so impossible because of the over cooking twice and the PC going to warm for over an hour. That doesn't do anybody any good trying to make stew. Just delete this please. Thanks.

I saw your  hand  over the vapor release  vent when you were unlocking the lid . NEVER  TRUST THAT ! HAND should not cross over the vent to avoid any accident to happen *

What is the point of the instapot if you cook on a stovetop for 1.5 hrs but the instapot takes 45 minutes for the meat + 10 min pressure release + 15 min vegetable + 10 min pressure release which is 1 hr 20 min… basically 1 hr 30 minutes if u include the time to get to pressure… whats the point?

Have you tried the Beef Stew preset yet? How do the results compare to what you got with the recipe used in the video? Any ideas on how I might adapt this for a meatball stew? (When using my slow cooker for meatball stew, I toss a bagful of frozen stew veggies in the crockpot, nuke frozen meatballs in the microwave (mainly to thaw them) and add them on top of the frozen stew veggies, then add the rest of the ingredients, stir to combine, cover & cook on Low all day while I'm at work (min. 8 hours).)

Great Vid, might a I suggest that when adding green beans or pea's that you actually just throw them in when the stew is on warm. That way they maintain their fresh taste and slow cook. Also, a good Roux does WONDERS for thickening a Stew. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. Cheers!

I've never made beef stew but I was wondering if it would be good to saute the meat before cooking since you can do that in the Instant Pot. I've heard that increases the flavor of the meat. Is that unnecessary with this recipe?

    Hi thanks for sharing,
i have now purchased a instant pot but i see when you used the manual setting you could change the pressure, when i use manual it doesn't give me the option to change pressure to low or medium, must be faulty.
