I've been mindlessly burning chicken since we got our Weber charcoal grill. Just peeled the skin after and enjoyed. Tried your method this time – PERFECTION. Entire family loved it. Thank you!

I've been basting and searing at the end, which of course means I've had problems with the skin/bbq sauce getting burned to a crisp. I'm going to give your method a try (searing first, basting over indirect heat at the end). I prefer my bbq sauce to be a little crispy which is why I sear it at the end, but it's just burning too much. Looking forward to trying your method.

Stop with the "wash the chicken" BS in the comments, you don't wash the chicken unless you want to splash salmonella all over your sink and counter, cooking it at the appropriate temperature will take care of any bacteria…
