I will be trying this. A lot of that 28.00 cost is probably shipping. If I am doing a gumbo for the holidays saving on he prep time is orthodox those few extra dollars. I will definitely be ordering me some of this and I will be ordering me meats as well.

I made this with the ready set gumbo and ordered the sausage from nolacajun. Added chopped onion, bell pepper, and celery. It came out awesome! Everyone loved it.

I bought the roux from the link and the alligator and andouille sausage from nolacajun. Making the gumbo tomorrow. Does knee deep give specifics for his holy Trinity? Thanks

I'll stick with mine. In 1986 while Emeril was head chef at Commanders Palace in New Orleans I made gumbo at my moms house for a Christmas event where one of the guests just happened to be Lallie Brennan one of his boss's. When she tasted my Gumbo she said that was the absolute best thing she ever had in her mouth. She came back the next day and got some to take to Emeril to try. So I'll just keep those bragging rights thanks.

I'll wait till alot of other online cooks try it.

Uncle Larry's jar of spiced rue is $20 per jar plus shipping. It's all about time. Do you want to be chained to the stove developing a quality unburnt rue or do you want a premade seasoned rue?

Looks good, but kind of pricey at $20 a jar. I guess I'm just one of those people that enjoys spending 1/2 day on a pot of gumbo. I even make my stock from scratch. Not bad for a Texan….Ayyyeeee

Here is another trick making a rue, put a cup of flour on baking sheet and spread out, cook at 400 degrees and around 45-50 mins look at the flour to your consistency of darkness. At 45-50 min mark your flour will be chocolate color and have a nutty flavor. After desire baking put flour immediately to a cooler dish!
