This was a interesting question. Never thought about it before. So to the beard I've never singed a single whisker ever(and I have a beard for over 40 years). But arm hair? Oh yes far to many times. But that's from grilling, not from my smokers. As to the smell? Yes sir burnt hair is very unpleasant. But worse yet it burnt urine 🤢. I'll explain. In boys scouts we discovered it was a truly wonderful BAD trick to go pee on another patrols campfire if they temporarily left it unattended. And the scout leaders would say to the scouts who complained about it you never should have let ANY campfire be unattended for even a minute. 😅 it made for great sport. Have any of your taste testers shown interest in picking up the torch and trying to learn your craft? I got my son into smoking and grilling and it’s a little something we can bond over now that he’s grown up and moved out doing his own thing. You will find that once they reach a certain age, dad gets put on the back burner and you do what you can to have little moments with them again, especially since during his whole childhood I worked overseas and missed a lot of quality time.
Man, there’s not many things worse than that smell. Arm hair is one thing but if your lucky enough to get those facial hairs fried,🤮. Can’t even cover that up with Axe body spray.
the big Green Egg finally gets a shoutout and its due to burning everyone lol. I feel like if you own a kamado style cooker and you'll eventually forget to burp it and be inducted into the legendary burnt arm hair club for sure. it just takes a few drinks to forget about burping or having over one of your friends who feels obliged to "see what you got on there" and arm hairs are gone!
If you’ve never smelled burned hair, or if you don’t have Burn scars, you haven’t been smoking meat very long !
