Your GRANDMOTHER didn't make her own pie crusts. Oh I forgot you are younger than me. I only saw my mom use refrigerated roll out crust one time . My dad was in a nursing home and she was rushing to bake him a cherry pie to take back to the home with her when she went up for the evening visit. She was rushing around doing his personal laundry, making sandwiches and pie and coffee to take in thermos and a big jug of iced tea for dad's friends that were going up to the home to play cards with him. That was the first and last time she used a pre-made crust. It was good but not near as good or pretty as her homemade.
That is the prettiest pie I've seen since my momma went to Heaven.

Why not just use powdered sugar instead of sugar/cornstarch mixture because that is basically what you're creating
