I just tried to make these in an air fryer oven. Didn't work; half got burnt and half undercooked. I guess the heat distributes differently, or perhaps much more efficiently than with a basket-style air fryer, so the heat setting was overkill even though I reduced both heat and time. It's a brand new appliance so it's not the oven. This is not a fault with this recipe, just doesn't seem to work the same if you don't have the basket. Just posting in case this is helpful to someone.

Well I followed the recipe exactly. Chips turned out just ok. I won't make them again. It was too much work slicing, soaking, boiling, drying and seasoning the potatoes for a few underwhelming chips. But thanks for posting.
