Hi Granny πŸ‘‹ congratulations on your silver play button πŸ‘. I've got a question about popcorn. I've got some in my pantry in retail packaging unopened that is a few years old. I have a jumbo jug that is nearing it's BB date also unopened. I tried making old popcorn once ( we really don't have it that much) and it didn't pop. Should I give the popcorn the mylar and oxygen absorber treatment? Is the older stock worth storing or should I just get more?

Stock piling at home in urban America makes you an easy target in SHTF situations . I’m ok with planning for a rainy day. If your city folk your pantry is your neighbors on a bad day. Prepping has many variables. We never have less than a months food on hand. We always kept food stock for no reason other than shelf/freezer space.
Do you have cash? Do you have barter? If your bank has an interruption how will you pay when plastic is offline? To me ultimately prepping in not about in place but about vanishing from the animals coming for your stuff.

I keep my preps in the basement and under beds. Slow and steady yall. I started over a year ago with 3 to 4 cans OF MEAT a week and Ive done 6 months total. THATS 26 tuna, 26 chicken. 26 canned ham, 26 spam, 26 Keystone pork. 26 Keystone ground beef/shredded beef and 26 Keystone turkey. THIS IS 7 MEATS TOTAL. ALL 7 DAYS OF THE WEEK IS COVERED EATING EACH ITEM ONCE A WEEK! 26 WEEKS TIMES 7 CANS A WEEK EQUALS 182 CANS. IM doing the next 26 weeks now to make a full 52 weeks.

Ive picked up 2 cans of Augason farms food a month too when it goes on sale at Walmart and Amazon. Now Im prepping canned veggies/fruit, rice/beans in mylar/pails, flour. oats. coffee. can milk, pasta, spices, condiment, peanut butter/jelly, water, hygiene, propane heating, grills, lighting and first aid starting next month. Again a little at a time…

I'm going to have to check this product out, 02:28 it happens to be, a discount store sells this brand, I'll have to ck to see if they have the soups- I'm partial to soups, gives me such comfort.
Wintertime the woodstove is going 24/7 so a great opportunity to put on a pot. Can, also, use the outdoor ref (Not plugged in, not required when the temps don't get above 40), to store the rest for a short time.
Wintertime is perfect for this soup, no extra energy is required, that's the bottom line.

Living in the hurricane zone, I started seriously started prepping just prior to the pandemic hitting. I just had a feeling. I started with freeze dried fruit and moved on to other powdered and freeze dried foods and MREs. I’ve also joined a meal subscription service, so I always have meals in the freezer.

Just a item or 2 every shopping trip helps.
When they have Buy One Get One free, put the Free one in the Prep Pantry or Box.
Dollar Tree is Excellent. At a Dollar an item $5 or $10 things helps it grow. They have alot of name Brand Food and Cleaning Supplies as well as Hygiene, Medicine and First Aide items amongst much more.
Some may know about Dollar Tree some may not.

Great ideas. We have a few extra 5 gal. buckets that we store things like mixes, dried fruit, etc. We keep the buckets in the basement out of sight. Thank you for all the videos – you have taught us alot and do add sanity to these crazy times. 😊

ATTENTION SENIORS: There's a looming government shut-down, and this will include Social Security checks, among many other vital entities….per congressmen in interviews today. You might want to withdraw some cash now in case you need it until things become stable again. May God bless our country with a return to sanity and wisdom.

I finally found some freeze dried fruit at Walmart. It’s on the cereal aisle. They’re β€œGreat Value” brand and it’s Freeze Dried Fruit Crisps which is an apple variety and Freeze Dried Strawberries. Cost is $3-$5.
