Hello Kay, I really enjoy your videos and how you live your life ! After 30 years of working I felt I needed to jump off the gravy train and live a more slow intentional life. I too am affected by colours and have often gone through “awakenings” whereby everything changes how I dress, how I view life, my direction. I finding neutral colours calm my mind but enjoy adding pops of colour.
Thank you for sharing your breast cancer scare .. I too can relate as I have had two scares in the last four years which set off a massive health anxiety journey.
You are a lovely person, very calming .. just go with flow of life and enjoy your journey xx

You know I used to hate the fact that I changed quite a bit growing up out of necessity particularly compared to my friends… everyone seemed to stay the same. Now I love the fact that I’ve changed so much so many times over my life. All I can see from where I’m sitting is that you’re doing life right my friend if there is such a thing. And I love how you’ve built this little community of people here who share the same principle. Thanks for keeping me company while I cooked a hearty instant pot chilli for dinner tonight ❤

MELISSA K NORRIS, here on YouTube has a good easy small batch sour dough starter it's not overwhelming like other recipes can be. Also I love that painting in your room its so beautiful you can incorporate pops of the same blue in your room like throw pillows or blanket.

Hello from beautiful NZ. I'm loving seeing you baking delicious nourishing food again – yay!. I have done the sourdough starter recipe from Farmhouse on Boone, and it works well. Great sourdough recipes on there also. Sourdough bread is just delicious!

Love your vlogs Kay. I think new seasons in life can cause us to evaluate how we ourselves. We had magnolia and creams and red in our house at first but in the last few years after following minimalism tips more have switched to off whites and greys with my red accessories. Red is one of my fav colours. It feels fresher in our home and like we have more focus and cleared thinking especially since decluttering. After having my first son I felt more spurred on to dress younger (like my actual age) than I had done previously.

As an American, I have never had the cake you made but I would be willing to try. (: I also love seeing your cats in the videos and wondered how you keep them off the counters and kitchen table.

Many times I decompress by putting on a video from one of my favorite YouTubers (you are one of them) and just complete one or two tasks I’ve been putting off while listening, and that always lifts my mood 🙂

One of those other YouTubers is who inspired me to start my sourdough journey about a month ago, her name is Allison Bickerstaff, if you don’t know of her I think you’d really enjoy her style of videos. She loves everything cozy and comforting, tries to live sustainably as well. I’ll link her sourdough basics video below but she also bakes in several other videos but this is the most in depth walkthrough of her process.

I got my sourdough starter from someone in a local plant group, I swapped cuttings for her 3 year old starter discard 💕

I'm really delighted to hear you are moving away from toxic products and hormones and pesticides laden foods, this is the way to health, not dieting as many of the health issues people have are caused by toxins overload in personal products, markups, food, furniture, water, air, etc.. it can be overwhelming but start small and keep on, never go back to the toxic life you had before. Good on you.

Our whole house is painted in a very pale grey but it's a great backdrop to all the colour I add to my rooms as it goes with everything. Your cats are beautiful and just love being around you 😍 You've also inspired me to make Parkin cake this weekend 😊 xx

I have thoughts and am going through a similar dilemma as a new homeowner in England! Put your bed against the other wall (i.e. rotate it 180 degrees) and keep the bedding and walls as is. Instead focus on matching all the accessories. Get 3 pillows (2 the same, for either side of the middle one) which have accents of cream and the blue which matches the picture. E.g. a tight blue and cream floral design, and then pick a funky textured pillow or of a different shape for the 3rd. Replace the lampshade with something either totally blue, or with blue. Potentially even blue curtain tiebacks? You could also get some blue replacement drawer knobs.

I relate so much!!! I spent years decorating my house so it looked like “everyone else” or what was popular, etc. Now my house looks probably like a crazy mish mash to most people but everything I have brings me joy and that’s more important. :):)

If that were my room I would paint the walls white, have two full built-in wardrobes in the alcoves, real wood, painted white. I would get rid of the TV and have the bed facing the window. Also, the painting is great but it is the wrong size for the wall (too big), and the colours and the scene (stormy seas) not really in accordance with 'an oasis of calm' as you put it. But each to their own.

If you're done with diets there are a couple of books I read when I was sick and tired of diet industry during lockdown. I'd highly recommend food is not medicine, health at every size and gentle nutrition. They really helped me change my perspective on diets.

I was told by an interior designer to never use more than 3 colours per room and I have done every room in claret red, green and cream and because it isn’t a huge house I have used these 3 colours in every room and it’s really cosy xxx

So nice to see you so joyful and inspired. For your room- what about moving the bed to the other wall? Also, when doing a dark accent wall where there is a chimney breast- paint the alcoves either side of the chimney breast rather than the chimney breast- I read that in an interior design book and we did it in our living room and it looks great- it adds depth and warmth and makes the room look bigger.

Hi Kay, just wondering if your 'beige phase' was a form of internal support or regulation that you perhaps needed at that time and now it's served you and you feel ready to move away from those comforts.
It's just a thought as I have done similar things and haven't been concious until I've healed and the fog has shifted.
Anyway, so happy for you and your journey. 💗

thanks for the video kay, loved the intro!! you're right about the walls/pillow (warm tones) clashing with the painting (cool tones). the plant and the painting go well together, so maybe soft green (light or dark) bedding could look nice. otherwise I agree with you and the comments about painting a dark blue or a soft green. re the bedroom configuration: the only thing I can think of moving the dressing table side on, giving the bed more room to go centrally? or could the bed go up against the opposite wall? I know there's a radiator cover, but it might make all the difference. I love moving rooms around — makes such a difference to a space! good luck!!
