Oranges a very special in my family due to the great depression. My family is scottish/polish/belgian and times were very hard in America. Food was rationed and my grandpa and grandma and their siblings would only get an orange for Christmas or their birthday. Nothing else. Growing up I remember lots of oranges in the houses and my grandma making orange chocolate treats and cakes.

My mother got a recipe for a Polish cheesecake from our neighbor who was of Polish decent. This was 55 years ago and our area had many Polish families. The one thing that caught my ear was that the filling made from farmers cheese! I thank both of you for a great video.

I LOVED WATCHING YOU TWO AND …OMG….IT TOOK ME BACK TO 1960s WHEN I WAS A CHILD 👶 LISTENING TO MY MOM & AUNT SPEAKING POLISH & I DIDNT UNDERSTAND ONE WORD…sadly we were never taught the language… my mom said…she didn’t want us to understand what was being said…. 🙄 😢 she spoke &=wrote polish fluently as her parents spoke very little English….I was upset over that all my life…I wish I could turn back the clock and get her to teach me polish… I know lots of polish … words… & some phrases but that’s it…ty for your channel… I LOVE WATCHING & LISTENING TO YOU SPEAK…..

ALTHOUGH I AM OF HALF UKRAINIAN HERITAGE AND LOVE THE FOOD, I HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED AND ADORE MANY DIFFERENT CUISINES AND COOK MULTIETHNIC FOODS ALL THE TIME. IF I WERE TO HAVE TO EAT ONLY ONE TYPE OF FOOD I BELIEVE I WOULD BE HAPPIEST WITH YOUR POLISH FOOD THAT HARKENS BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD.. I LOST MY UKRAINIAN NIAN GRANDMA WHEN I WAS ONLY ABOUT NINE SO SHE DID NOT SHOW ME HOW TO MAKE A GREAT MANY FAVORITE DISHES. I THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING ME HOW TO MAKE SOME OF THE FOOD I LOVE THAT SHE MADE.

I remember how ships were stuck in the Suez Canal and, it was the horror flowed from the evening news that the oranges would not reach our Christmas tables again! I think they were available for the chosen ones unfortunately.
