heyy I did this once a few months back, and my broth turned out to be a bit bitter. Did this happen to any of you? I did it on a normal stove top tho
These are like small victories for me. I’m pretty late to the game but I started storing bananas that are going brown and just storing them in the freezer (in reusable bags) and blend them in a smoothie. I do the same with baby spinach.
Another small hack: one of the kids to my glass Tupperware bowls cracked so instead of throwing the bowl part away I used it as a storage for my pencils, keys and other home essentials. That way it didn’t go to waste 😀
I put mine in a 1 gal ice cream container. Easier to use. Plus a lil excuse to splurge or your budget and treat yourself.
I did this veg scrap broth today in crock pot. Terrible taste, smell, bitter. Only used onions, garlic, salt, bay leaf. Maybe it was bad cause of the onion skins?
Should I seal or vent my instapot? I feel like this should be self explanatory but I don’t cook often when I do it’s just breakfast. Anybody? Halp?
you think you are so privileged that you can laugh and act so high class! I am sharing this in the real world yo
men can cook too!!!!!
you are SO privileged! PLEASE. wipe that privileged attitude off yourself and attitude
OMG! peelings and scraps are full of veg wax, pesticides, and non-sanitized peelings covered in bacteria from peoples hands from farmers, distro facilities, and retailers !!. you are making cancer causing soup! REPORTED!!!!!!
Could you water bath can the broth?
It's incredibly wasteful to use whole veggies for the broth and then throw them away. Using scraps is an amazing way to eliminate food waste 😁
Can this be canned for the shelf?
Would adding pumpkin make this inedible?
It's easier to freeze peels in plastic box
Suggest after dumping veggies into pot that you pour some water into your bag and try to ‘rinse’ some of the herbs and spices stuck to the bag and dump that over the veggies.
I first followed another video that said you should use oil 😩😩
Thank you so much for this video, using it next time!
Irritating when people just talk and talk and not go straightforward. Thumbs down. Ugh. Sick of this.
I wonder if roasting the vegetables before making the broth makes a difference?
AND store-bought broth is too salty for my taste.
What about tomatoes?
For skins of onion, carrot, etc do you wash them only with water? I always throw them out bc I thought they'll still be dirty if only washed with water
Keep the roots and crunchy parts of onions? Also organic or not? TIA! only thing I guess that’s holding me back from starting I gotta get on this! 😂
Since I'm going to start making this, I will be canning in quart jars. Do you know how long my processing time would be. Thanks for sharing
Great video helful tips, thank you so much for your time and giving out the recipe.
I did this to drink and it was great..
This is SO COOL! I never thought of saving scraps as I cut things for broth. I am so excited to try this out. Thank you so much!!! ❤️
Ahh this is brilliant! Started a bag of scraps today.
I've been doing this for many years, though sans instapot, I simmer mine in a covered pot on the stove. I do find you def need some potato to soften the flavour or it can be somewhat bitter although I'm sure carrots also help to sweeten. I've always refrigerated scraps from the week then prepared a smaller pot of broth so I do like your idea of collecting the veggie scraps in the freezer.
I will definitely try this
how many quarts is your instant pot? 6 quarts?
For how long can i save scraps in the freezer until i cook the final stock?
Lowkey, what is your skin care regimen? LOL.
you can disable the beeping by long pressing the + or – (google it)
on the ultra model, which i have, there’s a knob instead of + / -, long-pressing that one brings up a menu to change the beeping noise
i’d too monetized, especially when it shows gordon ramsfeet oil boil fish corpse ☠️ ☣️ 🤢 🤮
See i started watching this after having my mixture on the stove for an hour. I used a meal prep container worth of veggie scraps rather than a full bag and filled my pot to the brim with water… i came here because i wasnt sure why it looks so weak LMAO
Do you cook it on the low/high setting for the slow cooker?
Yummmm broth. Love this hack. I would loooove to see a compost video. I have one of those spinny ones and it was so wet & slimy all year. It got full. I added a ton of leaves in the fall. It is winter here. Wondering what I will find in the spring. What is your compost method?
What if the veggies are not organic? Is it really healthy to use scraps?
Genius
