These are like small victories for me. I’m pretty late to the game but I started storing bananas that are going brown and just storing them in the freezer (in reusable bags) and blend them in a smoothie. I do the same with baby spinach.

Another small hack: one of the kids to my glass Tupperware bowls cracked so instead of throwing the bowl part away I used it as a storage for my pencils, keys and other home essentials. That way it didn’t go to waste 😀

I did this veg scrap broth today in crock pot. Terrible taste, smell, bitter. Only used onions, garlic, salt, bay leaf. Maybe it was bad cause of the onion skins?

OMG! peelings and scraps are full of veg wax, pesticides, and non-sanitized peelings covered in bacteria from peoples hands from farmers, distro facilities, and retailers !!. you are making cancer causing soup! REPORTED!!!!!!

Suggest after dumping veggies into pot that you pour some water into your bag and try to ‘rinse’ some of the herbs and spices stuck to the bag and dump that over the veggies.

I've been doing this for many years, though sans instapot, I simmer mine in a covered pot on the stove. I do find you def need some potato to soften the flavour or it can be somewhat bitter although I'm sure carrots also help to sweeten. I've always refrigerated scraps from the week then prepared a smaller pot of broth so I do like your idea of collecting the veggie scraps in the freezer.

you can disable the beeping by long pressing the + or – (google it)
on the ultra model, which i have, there’s a knob instead of + / -, long-pressing that one brings up a menu to change the beeping noise

See i started watching this after having my mixture on the stove for an hour. I used a meal prep container worth of veggie scraps rather than a full bag and filled my pot to the brim with water… i came here because i wasnt sure why it looks so weak LMAO

Yummmm broth. Love this hack. I would loooove to see a compost video. I have one of those spinny ones and it was so wet & slimy all year. It got full. I added a ton of leaves in the fall. It is winter here. Wondering what I will find in the spring. What is your compost method?
