I hope these "DON'T" tips come in handy for everyone. Have a fab weekend y'all!
I've have been thinking of getting one. I marinade my chicken alot. Instead of using water or broth, can I put the marinade in the instant pot instead?
Who are honestly the stupid who out there pot on the stove
Hi, my IP liner got some brown spots after the first use which was water test… Can please tell me why ?
OMG.. THANK YOU! I AM A NEWBIE and I EVEN KNOW not to cover the vent nob!!.AND TOP NO.3 JUST KILLS ME every time I watch a video of home cooks and the moment she says (cover the non with a cloth!!( I am like…ARE U SERIOUS??! this is NOT SAFE! that's the whole point of the vent nob woman!!.
Thank you for the tips.. Unfortunately I was late to see your video.. I had the misfortune of doing the first (don't).. I put my instant pot on my stove while both of them were not being used.. and cold.. but it looked like when I was cleaning the stove knobs one of them was a little moved so the element was getting warm.. and it happened that I put my instant pot on that very one..🙄 I smelled the smoke and ran to find the bottom of my instant pot melted and the wires were out.. 😣 Thank goodness no fire happened and I just lost my new instant pot after a week of buying it.. and I had to buy another one 😑
The positive side : I have some spare parts now. 😂😜
In other words, don't set the pot on the stove.
2:50 omg are you ignorant? Covering it is not obstructing the vent, its catching any of the debris that flys out, hence the reason to cover it. Obstructing it would be something keeping it from opening or plugging it up. A cloth isn't going to cause a malfunction or situation.
I have very little counter space and have my IP on the stove top. But to be safe, I have an old large pizza pan underneath my IP. That way, even if I turn on the burner, the IP is somewhat safe. Fingers crossed, no mishaps.
The sarcasm between you and your hubby is literally just like how my bf and I are towards each other 😄
I am getting ready to buy and instant pot, and I was browsing through the many utube videos on the subject. First of all thank you. I liked the priority of knowing what not to do. <3
This is a Video for Morons!
I just hot Crick p ot forgot water.
Thanks
Your hair is so cool, is the gray natural?
Love your videos💖
Wow people are stupid.
ITT: USE COMMON SENSE
You are just pleasant to listen to. Thank you for the video.
I am thinking of getting one of these; how come there are so many negative reviews on Amazon? What I want to cook is Soft boiled eggs or poached eggs, wheat berries or Russian buckwheat; suggestions please?
it helps to store your plug in the lid upside down on the IP.
My new IP is tripping the fusebox
I’m thinking about buying one , what size should I get for a family of 4?
LOL! 🔥🔥🔥I’d like to see a video where someone turned on their gas stove, while the IP was in mid cycle! KaaaBbbooooooommmmmm! Gee, I guess that wasn’t such a great idea, after all…huh?🥵
I don’t know how the IP would even pressurize without the ring. Without it, it would just hiss. Isn’t that a built in safety feature?
I’ve read that covering the steam vent isn’t recommended, though there are many videos and online suggestions to do so! I’ve done it, but sparingly. I didn’t know it could make the IP malfunction. In order to avoid this tactic, I’ve purchased a steam diverter. I had initially placed the IP on our gas stove, right under the hood/vent. But I knew it wasn’t the best place for it, so I moved it next to the stove and when I do a QR, I place the diverter on the vent and aim it toward the stove vent. It helps from blasting it under our cabinets and under cabinet lighting. There are several types of steam diverter so, most which don’t make sense, as they disperse the steam out in two or more areas, defeating the purpose of directing the steam in one direction, where the stove vent can best suck the steam as quickly as possible. My steam diverter is a silicone piece, shaped like an “L” or elbow and it works great? The best tip here.
WTF?! Not putting the liner in the IP?! WOW! Now, those folks obviously are high on something, perhaps they have Alzheimer’s (very sad) or have no clue about basic safety of cooking! It’s the last group which is the saddest all, because they’re naturally stupid. ☹️. As for the druggies, well…they pay for abusing substances in so many ways…🤮.🥴🥵🥶…..💩. This is your brain….🐣this is your brain on drugs…🍳🤯!
Who forgets to cook in the liner? Are there actually people who do this? I have a cheap $15 Aroma rice cooker with a liner pot and have never even thought or mistakenly started adding rice and water straight into the cooker (has a heating element and bottom button very similar to that found on most electric pressure cookers). But I guess never say never. I just purchased the Cosari electric pressure cooker and will probably end up doing just what I thought no one would ever do….add food directly to the pot….LOL.
Eek!! Thanks! Excellent.
Love you two!! Great video once again. Thanks!
What an Airhead!!
Still scared of the steam release …
Great tips!!! Nothing should be taken for granted…even the stove top surface. Thank you. Keep up educational work:-)
I wonder why people would cover the steam on videos, it didn’t make sense to me.
A video for idiots.
Just got my IP Lux 60, and watching a lot of recipe videos, most are using the QR, but the book says to use the NR for meats. My question is if you use the NR, is the food still cooking, if so should you cook it for less time? I want to try ribs, but I don't want them to continue cooking with the NR and fall off the bones. TIA
Thanks.
Thank you!
Can you use a Pyrex Pot in an Instant Pot?
I just received an Instant Pot for Christmas and I'm so happy and excited. The first thing I wanted to cook (besides hard boiled eggs haha – I guess I'm not that brave after all) was Chinese food. My dad used to make the BEST Chinese food and a staple ingredient has always been ginger. So when I found another channel and the guy was making beef broccoli but didn't add ginger, I had to keep looking. lol I'm glad I found you. The first thing you started slicing up was GINGER for your beef broccoli and I said "Yes, this is my girl." 🙂 I'm going to make it tonight. Wish me luck!!
Someone said to plug in the cooker before use. I thought mine came already plugged in. So confusing! JUST KIDDING! I can see where people think it's okay to use the inner pot on the stove, though. It is a well-made pot in and of itself. The fact that it has no handles should've been their first clue.
I have a knock-off Instant Pot (Crux brand by Macy's) with a nonstick inner pot, so it is that much easier to get confused because the liner and the outer pot is the exact same color & material! I'm glad I watched this video and know what to avoid doing, as I'm just getting started in this "fan club" cooking with a pressure cooker!
What "Elements"? The Fifth Element kinda thing? Need some help here!
😀
Good tips, Flo! So far I’ve avoided these mishaps! Whew! Lol😊
Notes taken 😘
Two more tips that I've seen happen, even if it's in the instructions that people don't read. 1. Do not put the lid on when using saute function. 2. Do not deep fry in oil with this pot!
Please, Please,Please,Please,Please, be safe! Aww. So caring and so cute.
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS? 😁😆🤣. Greetings from California 🖖🏻
Thanks a lot, Flo!! You have wonderful vibes! God bless you!!
👍
I poured CORN SYRUP into IP without the liner. Oops. 🙁 Wiped it out with damp cloth and then unscrewed the bottom cover and wiped out around the wires, etc., as best as possible. Qtips helped with that. Then, as we had ANTS, I left the IP where the ants would notice it and they finished the job. That was about two years ago. The IP still works great. I now toss a dishtowel (or something else that will be very visible) into the empty IP when the liner is not in it. 😉
The 2nd time I ever used my IP, I forgot to put the liner in, and poured water 💦 in.🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ After all the water 💦 leaked out the bottom, I posted a pic, and asked my FB IP group for help. Someone pointed out that I didn’t have the liner in.🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ My liner was still in my dish rack from being cleaned after my 1st use. I was advised to put a wooden spoon 🥄 inside as a visual reminder to put my liner in.
I think this vid is genius. Thanks !
