Maybe you could try doing three courses with the same ingredients to push how far you could take some ingredients
The go-to dip recipe here in New Zealand is what we call “Kiwi Onion Soup Dip”, similar concept (but tastier in my
Opinion) to the sour cream/ soup based dip you made here.
Tin of reduced cream (230ml), 1 sachet of Maggi onion soup mix (or any flavour/brand but maggi and onion is the go to, a sachet of cream of onion or cream of vegetable soup powders would be my recommendations), 1 tsp of lemon juice or vinegar. Mix together and serve with potato chips (crisps) or vegetable sticks.
Maybe a suggestion for a future 4,3,2,1 recipe.
According to my research reduced cream isn’t available all over, but nestle carnation extra thick cream is a good substitute.
Barry Lewis – How about you do a video or more than one, where you show use what basic equipment everyone should have, and every basic 'kitchen cupboard' ingredients also ?
i love caramelised white chocolate
I'm from New Zealand, also known as English colonies, so we like custard too lol. Reduced cream and onion soup (or better, bacon and onion soup) mix is the classic kiwi dip -found at almost all Christmas events (summer)
The dip is like our kiwi onion dip!
What a fantastic meal. I'm excited to do the tarts (in one cup pyrex) and the hot chocolate
We eat custard in the US but I wouldn't say it's particularly popular except as ice cream or as a crême brulée. The thing we call "pudding" here is pretty similar to custard and probably eaten a lot more.
Southern Ontario Canada.. that same brand of custard is sold in stores along with a few others…or Birds custard powder is easy to get as well.
How's Phoebe doing? We don't see much of her. Also I was thinking about the drawing she did of the eye, which was stunning, and putting that on a shirt and putting something like "keep your eye on it".
I'm so glad to see simple recipes with just a few ingredients that are fairly easy to prepare. Barry you inspire me to try new recipes to fix for my family. I really appreciate your family and you. I've been subscribed for several years now, and always enjoy every episode. Thank you!!! <3 ~respect
Barry, have you ever made proper American Southern Banana Pudding? Made with 'Nilla Wafers and Jell-O banana pudding?
These all look so good
ROFL, onion soup and a tin of reduced cream with a splash of vinegar…..the guilty secret of many a NZer…….the best dip for chips/crisps and one most of us grew up on, even tho nowadays it’s totally passé and naff……we still eat it tho 😉
Have you ever done a video for liquid diets? I'm on a diet where I can only have soft/mushy/liquid things and I've been trying to find things to make at home
Yummers
Letting you know I enjoyed watching this video😊
I love the 4-3-2-1 videos!
Canadian here, my parents were from Belfast. Custard is very much not a thing here. We have instant pudding, it looks similar but it's not. My parents had to go to a specialty ethnic store to get Birds Custard. I hate it more than I hate pudding. Sorry.
