I think it's good if a meal doesn't turn out exactly as you planned, because you always then start thinking of different ways you could do it the next time which then expands your knowledge and creativity, so that's not a fail at all!
Straight away you knew to add more sauce so you were able to adjust it, so as long as you enjoyed it then that's the main thing, and like you said even if it's not perfect you'll still eat it but may either do it differently the next time or not make it again, but the point is that these situations get you thinking and creating. 🙂
Glad too to hear your experience with the lasagna noodles, I also think the ones that you cook first are a lot better, as the ones you put in dry often turn out a bit chewy in texture or even worse aren't cooked properly on the edges or just cook unevenly, so cooking first definitely gives better results.
You can also partially cook them, say halfway, and then put them in your dish before going into the oven, and the liquid in the dish as someone said below, will finish the cooking process to avoid them being too overcooked or mushy.
I did a meal prep yesterday based around two of your budget challenge videos, making your other cheese sauce with potatoes and carrots, which is probably why you said that. 🙂 Also made french black lentils, rice, roasted cauliflower and broccoli, tomato sauce with mushrooms and jacket baked potatoes. Going to have fun mixing and matching and lovely to know my meals for the next 5 days are taken care of, thanks! 🙂
Thanks for showing us some meals using items bought from your last shop, good to see what it turns into.

You wanna talk about failures?!?1 Haha, you should have seen the abominations, unto all that is culinarily holy, I created while trying to perfect my veggie burger recipe! Some are buried in the back yard, and I get a priest to bless the vege-burger graveyard every year, so they don't come back as zombies. 🍔😱

I just finished eating one my favorite, ultra simple meals. V8+4 Soup (carrots, red bell peppers, onions, and celery, cooked in V8 Juice and some extra water) with potatoes. That's it! No spices, no additional salt, nothing else. It's a very mild and sweet soup, in fact the carrots were almost overwhelmingly sweet. A good soup for the uninitiated, little kids, the infirm, and the very elderly, too:) The reason I like it so much, aside from the deliciously delicate flavors, is that it really tones my appetite down, giving me a deep and long lasting sense of complete satisfaction:)

You have such great ideas, I can't wait to try them. Could you show pictures of the meals plated? I would love to see what that potato veggie lasagna looked like when it was finished and plated. Thanks for the great content!
