We made Reuben sandwiches..which is what my husband likes for New Years Day.. I also like cabbage and smoked sausage too..I guess because we are North North..(Indiana) sometime I may try collard greens..never had them..but if you make them I am sure they are good!!

I didn't have potatoes but had blackeye peas, turnip greens, and cornbread (with enough cornbread left over for me to have some with a glass of milk for my breakfast!)

I made a free range grass fed beef roast with Jeager Sauce, basmati rice and french cut green beans. I am not a southerner, at least not from the American South, but a German from the southern part of Germany that came here many moons ago. ☺️

Well, I tried collard greens once in a can and thought they were awesome. I should like the fresh greens even better but I NEVER think about buying them. Im going to have to tie a green string on my finger to help me remember. Our new year day tradition is always pork and sauerkraut. This year it was boneless pork chops and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes. Your smoked pork chops looked so good, almost like ham steaks, nom nom! Love you guys, Happy New Year, God bless, Shirley. PS: Paul Im disappointed in you not eating/trying greens lol.

We usually have homemade tortillas, chicken mole, tamales & Mexican squash. Being Hispanic yet born and raised in south Alabama, we eat collards, fried chicken and hot water cornbread the next day! LOL!
