Great effort for a worthy subject. I dunno why people are so averse to drinking straight whey. I find it pleasant…and if it's good enough for Little Miss Muffet its good enough for me. Gonna work up some Ginger beer using whey and also use it to make Kvass.
I bet its great with the instant potatoes. I mix a shot of unflavored whey protein in my instant potatoes and its pretty great with some salt and pepper/ whatever spices you typically use.
Can't believe you never mentioned using it as a lacto-fermentation starter for all kinds of delicious homemade sodas and probiotic lemonade. I mean, that's the best use of all.
If you know how to make wine or mead you can use whey in place of water (if you add say 2 lbs of sugar to mix with whey to make a gallon (US) and then add a pack of wine yeast (or even yeast you use for making bread) you can make a wine that will have a potential alcohol level of about 12%. In the north of Scotland a version of this was made indigenously and was known as blaand (as in blonde, not bland). In my opinion blaand made from acid whey tastes better than blaand from sweet whey , but if you add fruit (say 3 lbs of berries or you use honey in place of table sugar, sweet whey works well).
This wine or mead will taste slightly sweet because of the lactose but if you add some lactase tablets you can ferment the milk sugars as lactase converts lactase into glucose and yeast LOVE glucose. One last thought.
If you are using sweet whey (cultured with bacteria rather than acidfied with lemon juice or citric acid) the whey can continue to acidify (takes about two weeks to ferment fully) so you might want to boil the whey as you add the sugar and allow it to cool to room temperature before you add the yeast.
I use my whey from my homemade yogurt in my home made sandwich bread. Sometimes I 'll just drink an 8oz glass plain. Yum…you can also use Whey to freeze and make your next batch of yogurt without using a starter.

Try making ricotta cheese. Put it on dry dog food.
The title should be No Wheyst😂
Try making yogurt and using the whey from it.
Great in smoothies or drinking straight.

I made a Cheshire cheese yesterday and I’m making a ricotta salata from the whey today.
I've seen a video of a UK cheese-maker that uses their leftover whey to fertilize the grass they feed their cows with.

I've been making insta pot yogurt. So far I've not drained the yogurt of the whey but next patch I will. Thanks for the info on whey uses.
I don’t know if I’ll ever make cheese, but there were some awesome ideas in here. Glad to see Shastin again. Love her shirt. 😅
Sylvia, George, Janice and I watched! <3
