When I was a girl (I'm pushing 80) my mother made sour cream lemon cookies. They looked similar to your sugar cookies, but were a lovely light yellow. She didn't ice them, but she may have added sugar to the tops. They were my favorite cookie. Thanks for the memory. It was a great idea the fill the box for Joe yourself. I've often enjoyed unboxing clips, but this one was one of the best!

My favorite recipe from the back of a “box” was from a knorr pasta side from when I was a kid. My mom made it and I’ve continued to make it for my kids. Ham steak, cut and lightly cooked. Cook a bag of knorr broccoli and cheese pasta side-slightly under cooked. Get a casserole dish and add the ham and cooked pasta side and add in some frozen broccoli that you ran under the water to unfreeze it a bit. Mix in the casserole dish. Put shredded cheddar on top and then some bread crumbs and cook at 350 for about 20 minutes.

I have been making sugar cookies for the last 20 years using sour cream. My family likes those better than the regular sugar cookies. I do 2 rolls and then cut the rest of the dough after rolling it out and put butter, sugar and cinnamon on them and bake. The grandkids eats those before the cookies. Thanks for the videos.

I doctor up the chicken chili recipe on the back of the barley box. We love it. I am working on doing a better job planning a menu with what we have and trying to keep the grocery list a bit shorter.

Greetings from MN! We recently found your channel and have been watching daily! Our boys especially enjoy when your kiddos join in on the videos!
My aunts sugar cookie recipe has sour cream in it but it’s not my family’s preferred recipe. My husband says they don’t have enough flavor and need frosting. I enjoy a crispy sugar cookie simply rolled in sugar before baking.
I also grew up watching my grandmother separate the dough by 1st, 2nd, & 3rd rolling.

Try adding some applesauce into the recipe for the banana bread. I do that and it offers a more moist product. Everything was awesome. Funny you did this video on the recipes on the packages because I have been trying to find the one that was on the lentil packages. It was an awesome sausage, lentil soup that my family loved. Somewhere in my collection is the recipe! Thanks for sharing your adventure with cooking and you family!

Thank you. I love reading cook books and back of the package recipes too. Some of my most favorite recipes come from the back of the boxes and are more difficult to find now. If you find one that you love make sure you make multiple copies and even scan and save it digitally! Ask me how I know…. Have a great day!

I absolutely love the idea you used for Joe. He was so excited.

Thank you so so much for the chicken chili recipe. My husband's grandmother used to make something similar to it and he has been missing it. Although I am going to use macaroni and corn (no beans) to see if he can reminisce.

The cookies reminded me of lofthouse cookies or sweeties. I will definitely try them also.

I like the idea of making recipes from the product packaging or their website. I also like how you sifted over a plate and then poured sifted items in mixer. I learned something new. Thanks!

Thank you for bringing back my memory of all bran cake. It’s years since I made it. I used to make it as a child with my mum and we always added raisins and or sultana’s, so good. I don’t remember how many bananas though. I’m going to have to look out that recipe. I have my old recipe (handwritten) from back in the day. I feel like I was that weird kid who liked bran cereal not the sugar packed cereal. Rare in the 70s/80s. I love on the box recipe tryout.

Hi Jennifer like you if I’m making any anything that requires rolling out I just work through it all …I make a lot of scones that’s a family favourite in our house .. I don’t work from a recipe I just put in self raising flour rub in some butter add sugar and then fruit of choice cherries or sultanas currant or raisins mix together with egg and milk mixture just so you can pat it into a round cut with a cutter and bake in a hot oven for about fifteen mins when cool split open and have with butter or jam delicious xxx
