Can you substitute No Salt for Cream of Tartar to get your potassium in?
We are a house divided: I love the LMNT electrolytes, particularly the chocolate mint, raspberry, and orange! My husband prefers the Redmondโs. I, too mix my flavors and add them to protein shakes for a boost of flavor. The PK cherry flavor is very intriguing! Cherry mixed with LMNT chocolate salt could be DEEEEElicious!! Thank you for such a great review of electrolytes and the different brands!
Thank you so much for the comprehensive info that you provided!!! I am to looking for the best price but electrolytes are very important to me ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐
I have about finished the big jug of daily minerals and feel like it has helped. It is pretty salty but I really don't mind. I do sometimes squeeze some lemon juice in it for a little flavor.
One or two drops of liquid stevia into Snake Juice will make it palatable, esp with ice. Not great, not delicious. Palatable. Maybe marginally refreshing.
Nowadays I prefer to start the day with a big frozen mug of club soda: Carbonated water, sodium bicarbonate, salt, potassium sulfate.
I liked this vid. I do need to up my salts when I'm keto/carnivore. Thanks for the reminder.
Do you use the flavored electrolytes even when fasting? And do you continue sipping the electrolytes during your eating window? Sorry for all the questions; I've been using Snake Juice, except I must be using a recipe before he added the magnesium. I do take magnesium capsules. I'm trying to get a handle on knowing when I need to take electrolytes and how much I need.
I appreciate you showing how to make the cheaper electrolytes, but I would like to make a suggestion. Epsom salts more likely can cause digestive issues. Bulk supplements makes a magnesium glycinate powder which is more absorbable, and they also make a potassium chloride in bulk. I use only those two items and the redmonds and mix them together and pour a lime or coconut La Croix drink in it and a small amount of sweetener. I like the Redmond Re-lytes, but actually my favorite is the LMNT chocolate salt, and citrus salt.
I have the Ultima grape and raspberry. I really like the flavors. They donโt taste salty to me.
Someoneโs getting close to a big number. ๐ฅณ. I love Redmondโs Re-Lyte. Strawberry lemonade and Leviโs fav Mango. Iโm addicted to it. Itโs so refreshing.
A couple of years ago I Started drinking this recipe. 20 Oz. Water, 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 Tbsp Lemon (Or Lime) Juice, 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda, 1/2 Tsp No Salt & 1/2 Tsp Pink Himalayan Salt. I drink it either Just before my Meal or during my meal.
This is my DIY recipe! To a 2 Liter jar add
8 pellets each Hyland's Bioplasma & Hyland's #11 Natrum Sulph,
2 Tbsp each yogurt & lemon juice,
2 scoops Redmond's Re-lyte,
1/2 tsp salt.
Fill with water. It stretches the cost because everything here in Canada costs so much more than in the US. Loved your breakdown of the electrolytes issue.
I make my own and it is diluted with 3-4 cups water and ice so it isn't so salty. I sip it during the day. The type of salt makes a taste difference! Recipe: One half tablespoon lemon flavored Magnesium Citrate, (99cents a bottle at Walmart) 1 quarter teaspoon Morton lite salt and one quarter teaspoon Redmond real salt. This equals or slightly exceeds the magnesium, sodium and potassium levels in commercial electrolytes. I bought water enhancer for flavor but it wasn't needed for my taste buds. I have tried the others, but they don't fit my budget. I find it helps my energy and dulls my appetite as well. Thanks for your comprehensive video!
Great summary Nili, thanks! I used the Keto Chow electrolyte drops for 18 months and then figured out it was irritating the roof of my mouth (non idea why?). Switched to homemade and did fine with lemon juice added, recently tried relyte and love it.
I have chronic low electrolytes for many years. I also hate the flavors electrolytes come in. I use the diy recipe from Mary's Nest youtube channel. I add it to my coffee, smoothies ect. I agree just drinking it in water is not pleasant.
You just received two compliments from Dr Ken Berry's Monday night live ! You make things very clear and easy to understand ! Thank you for sharing your journey with others โค

Redmond Re-Lyte are my favs. Just purchased Myoscience electrolyte stix. Individual travel sticks. Has Redmond salt in it plus creatine, taurine beside magnesoum & calcium. They are brand new..for now only have orange flavor but they will be getting other flavors. These are not as salty as re-lyte but blend faster & taste good.
There are many, many people who only eat meat and drink water, with or without salt, and live just great lives and have for years. I used to be one of them.
Suddenly there are so many people saying that electrolyte supplements are NON NEGOTIABLE and acting like you will die without them. And there are oodles of companies selling them, and most of the folks pushing them to their followers have affiliate links.
I make my own and add a little stevia and a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a quart of water.
WOW!! Nice expose'!! I am thinking I can add pomegranate or raspberry powder & powdered stevia or monk fruit to homemade & maybe come up with a way to save moola. Maybe add to EmergenC packets to round that into a good electrolyte mix??
Thank You Nili once again for bringing us solid information!! MORE blessings upon You & Yours Wise Woman!!!
Once again you have given me the exact info I was looking for. You are a saint. Thank you so much !!!
I had tried to make my own electrolytes as well and after one sip, I decided to just spend the money on Redmond ReLyte! ๐ So far the flavors I've tried of ReLyte have been fantastic!
Thank you! I ordered the relyte boost!
I love my electrolytes. Redmond is the best. I tried LMNT for the first time yesterday and they made me sick. Iโm not going to give up on them though, Iโm going to try them again soon.
I completely agree w/spending the money on those specific items that "check the boxes" for me. Being a lifelong, frugal shopper, I have learned that I can justify spending more on a few things, because I save SO much on so many other things. I'm also blessed to have several discount grocery stores, gleaning clubs, meat co-ops, etc near me which are paramount to shaving huge amounts from my food budget.
*Tip for the DIY electrolyte mix, I have experimented with various combinations of natural flavors to create a drink much closer to the pre-made ones. My favorite is to start w/a base of the powdered "TRUE Lemon/Lime/Orange" as a citrus, tart base which begins to counter the saltiness. I then will add in whatever other flavors I'm in the mood for, such as strawberry, pineapple, banana, coconut, etc extracts or 'sweet drops'~ or a combination of them~ & mix up a couple quarts at a time. We are so blessed to have so much variety now in S.F. flavors/sweeteners. It's a great time to be sugar-free/health conscious!๐คธโโ๏ธ
Thanks for sharing your experience w/it all Nili~ have an amazing, peaceful week๐โโ๏ธSammy in AZ
You answered all of my questions! Thank you!
Oh and I would have to add no more leg cramps!!
I ordered Re-Lyte. Great flavors but shortly after opening they are not a block of solid. Any tips to prevent the jar from solidifying? Thanks.
I found Ultima at whole foods. Very good.
I absolutely love perfect keto Black Cherry. I just ordered 2 of them. I almost bought 5 to get the 35% off but I canโt afford that. Lol. Mixing in the lime sounds good. I buy redmonds salt and spice but the electrolyte flavors didnโt appeal to me. I like keto Chow when I donโt want any flavoring. I never associated my heart palpitations to weight loss before. And I also that that never ending hunger thing going on for a while. Maybe it was the electrolytes that took it away. Thanks for the video love the things you bring to the table
What's the best no-sweetened option that does NOT have citric acid (since this is so unhealthy, unless it is truly from lemons)?
I meant to type a PINCHโฆ. MY IPAD IS A LEMON. ๐CHANGES WORDS ALL THE TIME.๐
Hey, you can hide a pink of the formula in any diet pop! If you still love pop!๐ฅค
Re-lyte in Canada.ย
Nili you just showed the US๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธPrice $29.99๐บ๐ธ
Same jar in Canada $88.39๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฆ As usual, online retailers are thieves here!๐จ๐ฆ
The US๐บ๐ธPrice plus the 22% exchange rate means the price should be about $36.50๐จ๐ฆ
Thank you for the recipeโฆ.. I will simply add 1/16 tsp to my spices as I cook!
It is only salts.
So simple!
Stay safe๐ท
Covid and all variants are still out there๐๐๐
Glad๐จ๐ฆ
Couldnโt an 1/8 or even 1/16 tsp be added to any meal you cookโฆ.in addition to the salt in the recipe? Do not drink salty water! Just add it to your diet! Simple! ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฝ Hide it in the spices as you cook. Just a suggestion!
