I have the smaller bun “Twinkie” style mesh pans and I find they are the absolute perfect hot dog bun size. It’s true the hot dogs we buy hang out a bit out of each end but I’ve never really been a huge bun type person I think I’ve always just seen them as the thing that holds the hot dog and all the yummy toppings including chili and cheddar cheese and some sour cream…delicious!! So I’d much rather my first bite be mostly weiner and a little bit of bun vs biting into a bun and not even hitting the weiner which some buns are like. Now for the bratwurst or honey garlic sausages we’ve found a couple of unique ways to have them in the smaller buns either slice them into small disc shaped and cook them with some cabbage and onions and serve them in the bun like that or slice them and have them with sautéed onions and peppers which is absolutely delicious as well or slice then lengthwise so they aren’t as wide and then have them stick out the ends of the bun. We found if we leave them whole they are too wide for those smaller buns so slicing them in half works fantastic. Plus any leftover hot dog buns double as a terrific sloppy Joes bun or a sub bun. I thoroughly enjoy all your comparisons that you do it really helps me to learn how to tweak all my recipes without having to spend a lot of money on failed attempts. I know I can make bread pudding from failed attempts and many other things but it’s so much better when I can have success on the first attempt, makes me think I really know what I’m doing. Lol! Thanks again! 🥰❤️🇨🇦

I love all your recipes and experiments! I also have done some experiments with hot dog buns. I've found using real egg yolks gives the buns more flexibility, I had trouble with them breaking when I cut them before adding the real egg yolks. I also found under filling the mold wells made them a better size for the hot dogs. I would like to thank you for all your hard work bringing us new ideas!

I have purchased various pans with mesh and like some of the other comments, they were impossible to clean and actually parts of my buns would burn even though my oven is calibrated to the right temperature. I always have a large roll of heavy duty oven foil and I decided to just make a few long tubes that would be like a baguette pan. And depending on the length of my tubes, I will put in two or three hot dog buns with a space in between. I do spray the foil and they came out very nice, never as nice as Nili's but quite "hot dog-ish" in nature!

I have truly enjoyed all of your content. I wonder if you have seen, or have tried any of the keto breads and buns that are now available at groceries? I do not have a gluten allergy, so these alternatives are quite attractive. I have tried some and they have not interfered with my keto journey. I must say though that I have lost the weight I wanted to and am now on a maintenance type eating plan. Just curious if you have any input?

Cool recipe, I just don't know if I'll buy the molds. I have the hamburger buns version and they are impossible to clean! Do you have any tips for cleaning them?

I love watching your recipe videos!💕😋 I wanted the 6.5 large mesh
hotdog bun mold but it was $45.00. 😲 So I went down a size to the 5" bun mold and it was only $20. My husband wants a bun for his Italian sausage. My family prefers the butter bun loaf recipe with extra allulose. I use it for everything but pizza crust.

I made the buns in a baguette mold I bought in Amazon leaving an empty space in the middle, so in every baguette well I made 2 buns.

I haven't really been missing hotdog buns, but now I want some!
I think I would fill the pans less. I think I would want a bit more hot dog to bun. And maybe I'll toss on some sesame seeds. So many options to customize it to our likings.

Can you tell me if you have any special tweaks to pizza crust? I used your bread recipe and loved it, but wondered if you had any ideas for getting more of a crustier crust.
