There are various degrees of carb allowance on keto, which I'm sure you understand. 20 g and under is therapeutic keto, but you have the option of increasing carb increments while still remaining on a keto diet. You don't have to remain in a constant state of ketosis for a Keto diet to be effective. Everyone is different of course, in the amount of carbs that will result in weight loss, but Keto is the reduction of carbohydrates to allow your body to burn body fat, and increasing health markers. Dr. Westman suggests anything under 150 g. carbs is still classified as a keto/low carb diet, however for faster weight loss most people may need to be closer to that therapeutic level of 20 g. or less. You already know you are ready to increase your carb level, but you'll still be in the ketogenic range regardless. 👍 It's a lifestyle way of eating for sure, and we can adapt our choices to our various seasons of life, while still being keto/low carb. Best wishes to your continued efforts and sharing your life journey… you continue to inspire me. ❤️

Calories in and out has been shown over and over again to be the wrong path. It’s actually an under pinning of the keto lifestyle because high fat foods are high calorie, so there’s merit in figuring out what you need to sustain or lose weight in terms of food volume and macros but it’s not about calories in and calories out. It’s much more about insulin and not spiking it so you don’t store fat and burning off fat and stored sugars. Read the obesity code for all the scientific thinking. Good on you to do what works for you and Shane on the shamers.

Hi Jess! I’ll be watching 👀 you❣️ my plan is to incorporate Somersizing principles into my low carb plan so I can have my fruits and eat it too. I’m not into legumes but I enjoy my pasta except it will be very low fat style with veges since fats and proteins don’t mix with carbs.

I’m sorry Jess I’ve been following you for almost 2 years and I’ve tried many of your challenges I paid to join your Facebook group and you were never there supporting anyone I also don’t think eating vegetables makes you fat and creating another channel just because you’re adding vegetables is insane maybe you need to seek help from a dietician you sound all over the place and if there’s a video that you ever put up it’s always sponsorship or promoting something not really a video that has something genuine for your viewers. Sorry I wish you the best 🤷🏼‍♀️

I understand that some people have issues with nightshades, and for those people they should probably stay away from tomatoes on keto. However, there are many of us who do not have those issues. I've been on keto since 2017, and have never cut out peppers of any kind or tomatoes. I eat onions as well, and if a salad has a little bit of carrot in it I'll eat that as well. I also put berries in my yogurt, and still manage to stay between 20 – 50g of carbs a day and remain in ketosis. I never worried about staying below 20g total carbs I just tried not to go over 50g of total carbs a day.

20 total carbs a day is nothing more than a suggestion. No sensible person ever said that. It will vary from person to person. I lost 110 lbs in 14 months from 1-50 carbs a day. My norm was 15-35 a day. Balanced carbs vs calories in my case. Some days I might do 10 carbs but 2500 calories. Others 30 carbs would keep calories between 1000-1500 a day. Constantly did tomatoes/all types of peppers/ tons of cabbage, cauliflower, asparagus, lettuces, many squashes.

You are great and I love your idea. You have to see the humor in life. I am totally agree you need to eat variety and keep active so you can burn the occasional indulgence. Whole food that is seasonal and not excessive carb or processed junk is totally ok.

Your comments are false Jess. Calories are not important, It is what you eat that is important. When you eat correctly your hormones will get in balance and you will not get hungry. Guess what Jess it is easy to lose weight when you are never hungry. I know I have to eat correctly when I eat or I will be hungry more than I need to be. It took me 50 years to learn how to lose the 120 lbs and live at a normal weight but once learned the journey to get there and stay has been easy. Good luck to you.

Hi Jess. I know I'll get chastised for my comments. I think there are many of us who have been watching your documented journey from the beginning. We cheered you on and loved seeing you lose weight and improve your health. And now we've been skeptical for the last year or more in your changes with all the keto processed foods that you've been promoting. Also, I don't remember any comments about whether you ate red or green peppers, but we worried when you upped your carbs earlier this year. Not because we think those foods are bad, but coupled with you binging on chips, ice cream, cocktails, etc, we worried about you. You did fess up to binging at night, but not on peppers. You started regaining on your vacations, holidays, renovation projects, birthdays, any other celebratory event. Had nothing to do with keto. We've all seen horror movies where our heroine opens the door to the basement and we all start to shout to not do it!

If you're happy at your weight, continue to experiment with higher carbs. Of course, it is totally your choice! But some of us will be anxious when we see you opening the basement door. Good luck.

Jess don't make yourself crazy. You look beautiful. I added back carbs too, 1 slice of bread instead of 2, 1 hashbrown instead of 2, etc. I'm still losing and feel like I'm not even trying. Be easier on yourself, I'm rooting for you girl!!!😊

I have found the secret that works for me to maintain my weight. I have managed to stay at my goal weight for about 2 1/2 years now. On Mondays I dry fast, Tuesdays I do a liquids only fast, Wednesday is very controlled…eating about 1,000 calories. However, the remainder of the week, I eat just plain healthy. I naturally tend to be low carb. The carbs that I do eat are mostly all vegetables. No refined carbs. I usually don't track macros, but when I do, I am hitting close to 2,500 calories! I am not a professional, but I believe the high calorie days work for my benefit when it comes to the fasting days. My metabolism is running high.

I like the idea of a new channel. I was keto and intermittent fasting for over 3 years. Once I did ADF in 2020, I lost a lot of weight and got to my all time goal however. By Christmas 2020 I had gained it all back. When I tried keto again at the beginning of 2021, it wasn’t working. I’ve gone back to counting calories and not denying myself food. I track calories. I may do keto again in the future but my body needed a change and right now, calorie counting with my fitness pal is working for me. I have to constantly change it up. And my weight will always be an issue for me. Gain and lose and gain and lose. It’s a life long battle and struggle.

I’ve enjoyed your vlog but now it seems like your trying too hard to convince yourself. Misti did the same thing but she even did a video with a lot of what we don’t want to eat. That was not pretty.
