Your channel and Becky’s Acre Homestead are two of my fav youths homesteading/food preservation channels with some others following closely behind. You are entertaining, knowledgeable, and relatable. Don’t ever change. Thank you.

Both of my parents grew up with chickens too. My grandparents had them well into my years as well. My dad said they butchered the week's chicken meals on Saturday. I'm not so sure he looked forward to Saturdays like I did growing up. 😉 Since we had no chickens.
My mom said the first time she butchered a chicken….maybe around 10 or so on her own. It started chasing her without it's head. She was running in a circle around the stump and so was the chicken by happenstance…oh boy! "like it was yesterday" was her memory. 😉

Firstly , love you Cassandra as a woman of color it’s nice to see some one who’s much like me. Watching you butcher that bird took so much courage after he was defeathered and on the table I was like that’s not too bad then the next frame is you pulling out intestines my brain was like “WHOAAAAA” I wasn’t ready but you’ve inspired me. You are doing amazing! I’m buying my first electric pressure canner this weekend to do my first batch of green beans been watching you for over a year and I finally have the confidence to try canning myself.

In my head your my BFF AND I’m in the DMV. I JUST told a friend of mine in Texas who is also a Farm Girl that I have no friends here that are even remotely interested in any of this stuff. And though it’s nice to have all the videos on how to can, i hope to one day have someone that i can actually go to their home and learn how to do it. I’m plant based so the meat, dairy, kinda stuff isn’t for me but the rest is right up my alley. And I haven’t always been plant based.
Tried to get tickets for the homesteaders conference but had no idea it was that serious…tickets have been gone, lol for months.
Thanks for sharing the thrift store and Millcreek. I’m going to be checking both out in the next couple of weekends. 😊

I raised quail for a bit and I ended up putting them all in the freezer last winter. The cons out weighed the pros. For the amount of eggs and meat I was getting I could have bought them from my local farmers market for less. They need a high protein feed that is quite expensive and they are very wasteful. They are also very loud and seriously messy compared to my chickens. I did enjoy raising them though. They are so adorable. Just somethings to think about before you fully invest.

Thank you for making this video! This was very informative and encouraging. I would love to raise meat chickens. Any chance you might make a more detailed video someday when you are more practiced?

Put those roasted tomatoes in a strainer basket for an hour before you process them. Your sauce will be so much thicker. This has been a game changer for me. Also, put the scraps back through the food mill once or twice.
A warning about the peach sugar: do you know how much insecticide spray has been put on those peaches? Lots. Be sure to clean them well before eating the peels.

You are so brave processing chicken. I’d probably have to stick with just hens for eggs as I’d probably be making friends with the chickens. You are really an inspiration!❤️

I am so glad I found your channel. I am originally from Queens NY but have lived in Florida 30 years now and never would have thought I’d be thinking about having my own farm but we do not live in the country but watching your videos let’s me know I can just start small and learn as much as I can now. I am loving everything I’ve watched so far!

Just started watching your courageous self😜 you have got my husband interested in the green-stalk gardening. Was looking in your Chanel for the link to see how much they would be. Want to learn a lot of tricks from you. On food and growing. I have a small place. A small back yard. Those would work well. When I grow stuff bugs get them. All my work are up.
