Could you fit the trivet upside down?
You need to do the 'dumpster jump' on the chicken to get it in properly

Going to try that this morning and make bone broth out of it
Thank you for this video. Tomorrow I was going to return my 6 quart instant pop because I just bought it today, opened it and thought it wouldn't fit a whole chicken. Then I saw your video with the whole chicken and the 3 qt pot and I feel so relieved now. Besides, you give advices like time and water capacity. Thanks, thanks a lot!
That chicken was large and was cooked perfectly in the 3 Qt. pot and that is the one I have since I cook for one person as I live by myself. The dish you made is perfect and would be great with mashed potatoes and cornbread. The broth can be poured over the potatoes to make for a great dish.
Looks like a big bird. There is a lot of room inside of it for all kinds of stuff.
Thank you for posting this. I was having trouble finding a good video which showed how the mini looked in proportion to other things. Most clips just show the cooker. Choosing a whole chicken really allowed me to see how big the three quart size is. I know that I will get the six-quart cooker first, and maybe the three-quart later. Very helpful!!
Thank you , this was great ..a 4 lb. chicken in a 3qt,😊
Just made this tonight. First time ever. Free range, antibiotic free etc etc. 4 pounder. It was small enough to use the trivet. Ohhhhh my goodness. Well it’s not a presentation bird but I’ll cut it up and put in my veggie bean soup. Thank you soo much for these “Mini” iPot recipes. 👍👍👍
Looks like 7 people can’t read symbols. No it’s the one on the left. The thumbs up. That’s right. That’s ok we all make mistakes sometimes. 😜
Great vid. I love my mini. Now even more. Great job. 👍
Awesome was wondering if a whole bird would fit . Thanks !
I’m getting my first IO.. Thus was perfect. Thanks.
Great demo, thanks and using the mini was just what I needed. You give good, clear instructions!
Thank you. You help so much with all your explanations . I have a 8 qt instant pot because I cook very often broths for my husband but for everyday and 2 people it's very big. I think to order the Mini duo when i's Prime Day .Hope I won't miss this day ! Hope you will have time to do more videos with the mini. Thank you Nill.
I made a 4.7 pound chicken in a 3 qt instapot using your method. Check it out!
i just got mine new and i didn't realize the timer was in minutes. i thought it was minutes and seconds, like a microwave. i overcooked some potatoes in there .. 🙁
Thanku for taking the time to show us this experiment I deeply appreciate it. Thanku and where did u get your instant pot times sheet?
I finally bought an Instant Pot and I chose the 3 qt model ($56 / Target) mainly because I am single. I have cooked a whole chicken; two Cornish hens; small pot roast; soup; mushroom gravy; rice; steamed root veggies; and steel-cut oats in the mini…oh, and quinoa. I am so pleased. I have used only it and the microwave since the purchase.
THANKS!
Dead link to Amazon for 3 qt mini
Im glad to see that worked! The 6 qt instant pot I got as a gift was too big for my countertop so Im getting a 3 quart one and giving the 6 quart one to my sister who has 2 kids.
Thanks for the video on the 3Q. I bought a 6Q – Just feeding 1 person, the 6Q is huge for me. I will buy the 3Q – thanks for the recipe as well.
I've been debating on whether I should get and Instant Pot and which size. After watching this I'm going to get one for sure and it'll be the 3qt. Since I only have to cook for myself, that should be just the right size. Looks like it'll cook what I like with leftovers for a day or two. Thank you!
Excellent video. Clear and concise. I'm going to try this one tonight!
Enjoyed the video. So the broth and juices from the cooking chicken keep it from burning on the bottom without the trivet ?
can you use a frozen chicken?
