I save all of my candles after the wick burns out. Bought some cheap wicks, melt down the candle remnants and make new candles from that. Just need to coordinate scents. You end up with a free candle for every 4 or 5 you bought. Big $$$$ saver.

Kate you are relatable. I can't watch any of the channels where people have these gorgeous homes and they go shopping and spend ton of money on decorating, etc. We don't all have that kind of money for these things, so repeat on. Someone needs to hear what you have to say.

Oh wow, when you mentioned paper cups, I had a childhood flashback. At parties, in the 1960s and ‘70s , our parents always poured children’s drinks into small Dixie cups that were commonly used in bathrooms. It saved money and there was less to spill. Also, you could write a child’s name on the cup. I had totally forgotten about that! It may not have been the perfect solution, but it worked.

I’m so with you on watching the foreign videos on home making. Asian, Indian, Swiss, Scandinavian; Typically they so lovely and calm. You are one of the few American homemakers that I find truly comfortable, interesting, informative and just naturally yourself. I know that’s not always easy in the YouTube world, so I’m very appreciative of all you do to make this a lovely place to come.

Very inspiring. I must keep paper towels for cat puke, mostly. Otherwise I am good about cloth napkins and rags.
I do find plenty of useful information in your videos. Thank you for doing these and I look forward to the BIG reveal…………….

I can’t get enough of those Korean cleaning channels. They’ve raised cleaning and cooking to an art form. I like the American ones for their tips on cleaning though.

hi Kate. Could you please put links or insert names and titles of people you mention in your video’s as spellings these days are so different from straight English spellings. I would love to read the books you mention and follow the channels you mention. Many thanks.

I like all of your videos. Cooking, budgeting, gardening. Maybe do thrift hauls when you do buy things (I know that’s not often) it’s nice just sitting down with a cup of coffee and listening to whatever you want to talk about lol

    I too don’t mind repetition!
I have watched some of your videos over and over. They bring me comfort in my times of stress… Specifically the ones about affording for one person to stay home and be a homemaker, frugality and budgeting.
I love the talks about stepping away from the rat race, finding a peaceful life at home, & having a good life on a smaller budget. 💞

If you're "cuckoo, wacko" then so am I. We have enough plates and silverware that I don't buy paper goods for parties, either. We use cloth napkins, rags for cleaning and maybe one roll of paper towels a year (I drain corn tortillas on them when I make tacos). I wash and reuse ziploc bags. We don't use plastic trash bags, either. Our kitchen trash can has a plastic insert which we line with a couple of layers of newspaper and then just dump it into an outdoor trash can when full. I do these things largely for environmental reasons but the money-saving aspect is a big plus.

I often feel out of step with society and that's part of the reason I love your videos. 🙂

After 12 years we finally had to buy a car and while we got a great deal it was not for CASH. It was a car payment. 😭 Hoping to pay off in a year but in the meantime….I need encouraging words. Thank you so much for your frugal, money saving talks. As a Dacyczyn disciple, I really appreciate it. 🙂

Best of luck. We were not successful being a landlord. Not many people take care of the house when they don't have "meat" in the game. Our rental ended up being destroyed and cost us alot of money to repair before selling. We screened, but this single mother was good for a year, then got into drugs. So very sad, especially for the child. Afttr SEVERAL months of not paying rent we were able to get the cops to evict. Advice – make sure you don't move far enough away that you can stop by to inspect.
