DON'T BE SO LAZY, LAH! Just grab a pair of chopsticks rather than using the tongs when you wanted to take a taste right after you finished cooking it …(just because instant noodles & you probably didn't want to wash one more pair of chopsticks)

You tasted the noodles using the tongs and touched those noodles in the pan with those tongs again.. Covid19 or not, that's unhygienic. Unless you cooked a separate bowl of noodles to serve, then okay.

Lifting the noodles into the air is actually not a good idea. What you're doing is stopping the cooking process and restarting it again. You'll end up with noodles cooked on the outside and undercooked inside.
In my experience if you want al dente noodles what you should do is minus 30seconds-1minute of cook time from the instructions provided. Results vary depending on noodle type and thickness. Experiment to find out which suits you best!
