Just wanted to share with you that I made this dish last night. I had some deer meat in the freezer that was gifted to us it came out delicious. I send some home with my son. I'll be cooking this again. Thanks so much. Also working on the friend ship bread. Blessings
Moose meat! another one our household staples growing up. I have lived in Alaska almost my hole life. I grew up on moose, halibut and salmon things cost a lot of money up here so we sourced our own meat and kept chickens for chicken and eggs. Watching your channel has been deprograming me from the generation of fast easy and cheap. The fond memories of growing up with canned goods and sourcing your own meat was not that long ago just forgotten. Iβm excited about my journey of going back to how my grandparents lived and cooked. Thank you for sharingπ
Thanks for sharing Rachel., I like Goat meat but I like the Smoked Goat meat better. My Husband was Liberian Joe Passed in a Tragic Accident., He taught me a lot about his food some I enjoyed others I did not 11-14-2022ππ½ππ½β₯οΈ
That looks so yummy Rachel! I've never eaten goat meat tho. I have a question…my son in law would like for me to can a marinade sauce for carne asada. It takes ev olive oil and soy sauce among other things. I'm just wondering if I can can the olive oil and soy sauce? I trust your opinion. I'm sure the oil isn't recommended to can, but it's only 1/3 cup per jar. It also takes 2 T cider vinegar and the same of lime juice and sugar. I really want to try this, but not sure how long you would suggest to pressure can it. It's in 1/2 pint jars. Thanks.
Sometimes I use the leftover pineapple juice syrup that I made the zucchini out of from your recipes to bring that teriyaki type flavor to beef or chicken.
Love the inspiration of you all showing what you make with what you've grown and harvested. I don't have my own livestock but I support local farmers and buy beef and pork from them π€
Rachel: I canned some COLESLAW following your past videos. OMG… what a game changer!!!! Shelf stable slaw. Who'da thunk? Well… you did. Sorry to piggyback this video on that. I watch Youtube mostly on my tv and you cant really comment… but you can hit that "like" button. Thank you Rachel and Todd for all you share with us. I appreciate all your content and time you take bringing it to us.
I'm enjoying your channel. I was watching…Simply living Alaska channel this morning and they mentioned your channel. That's how I found your channel. Looking forward to watching more of your videos π₯°
Rachel I really love and appreciate your videos you've taught me a lot since I've been watching you over the last couple of years I do have a question about your video of a few days back where you talked about pulling up the carpet and whether you were going to redo the hardwood floor or put carpet in have you made a decision did the guy come and tell you whether it was workable and fixable or if you have to put carpet in, can you let us know.
Did you know the lid to your instapot fits in the open slots of the pot handles, so you don't have to keep setting the wet lid on the table or counter? Dinner looked delicious!
Great video thanks Rachel- why don't you just keep the remainder of your stock in the fridge ?? I have never frozen mine & just can it, then when I open to use I store leftover in our fridge ??. You are looking really good xx. Cheers Denise- Australia
Hi Rachel, would you please share info about your 4-in-1 measuring spoon? Is it silicone? Iβve been looking for something similar with no luck. Thank you! π
Love to see your meals…I've got my freezer full of beef, pork, chicken, and some veggies. Pantry is full of staples, canned vegetables, etc. Told my partner today we won't need a grocery store for a long time. Just need to get creative with our meals!!!!

Sounds good enjoy!
Does goat taste like lamb? Lamb is abundant and cheap everywhere else in the world. Except here.
Iβm liking your βinspirationβ over detailed instruction vibe very muchπ
Looks better than takeout anyday!!ππΎβ₯οΈ

Just a quick question…why didn't you just put the rice in with everything else instead of cooking it separately?
Would it be okay to take a bit of the sauce out at the end to add to the thickening powder and then pop it back in?
Thanks for the inspiration! My husband got a bear a few weeks back & having never cooked bear before you've given me another idea! Keep 'em coming! π©βπ³β€οΈπ«

I always thought goat meat was strong, which is why I've never tried it.
so nice
Looks so delicious π Can I ask you what kind of pot you used to cook your rice?
Looks absolutely amazing and cannot wait to try it. TY for sharing.
Instead of a thickening agent, try mini dumplings (flour, suet, seasoning) made with adding fresh/freeze dried parsley.

How do you freeze the cabbage? Does it need to be blanched?
Wow , well i am portuguese and goat was one of our favorites. Sure it's different how you put it together, but i bet it was delicious… π
I've never eaten goat. Would it compare more to sheep (mutton) or deer in taste?
Yummy!
Yum!
Hi Rachel β€
Where did you get your measuring spoon? It looks like a perfect one π

I do something very similar in the crockpot (except rice, Iβll cook that after)
I put diced tomatoes and carrots potatoes and tomato sauce.
I would eat deer, rabbit, pheasant, or even fish rather than goat. I just donβt think I could eat goat. Oh I probably would if I had to.

Ohh, may have found dinner for tomorrow evening. Bison stew meat, and broccoli with Asian inspired sauce and rice
