By the way, a hundred years ago when I was growing up, my Mother would make oven rice…rice baked in a Pyrex bowl with water, a chicken bouillon cube, a big pat of margarine and sprinkled with thyme seasoning…it took about 30 to 40 minutes and it was delicious and crunchy on top!

I rinse my rice unless I’m being lazy! There is a difference…rinsed is much fluffier…I prefer Jasmin rice although for years I only used Calrose…again Jasmine is fluffier…then I “acquired” 🤭 a filipino brother-in-law…he is like your asian grandmas…always rinse your rice to remove excess starch and any debris acquired while it was being harvested!

Love this topic!! DGT you need a fine mesh strainer. Easier to rinse. 😉 As an "old" 🤪 Asian, rinse your rice!! Not only should you rinse but soaking for at least 15 minutes make rice yummier! 😄
