Doesnβt matter if you turn it down and turn it off you need to clean your grill all the grease the bottom is your issue
Now clean it so it won't happen again.

You gave to remove the source of the fire… Take iff the meat!! We had this happen one time. Gilled the grill with burger patties and the grease kept catching fire. Fire got so big… even with the burners off. Had to reach in with and pull them patties off. Then the fire went out
