When I use a credit card 💳 I always keep a running total in my notebook 📓 this keeps me in check like cash . I quit looking at sales all the time just because I personally spend to much money 💰 Thanks for sharing, I totally agree with everything you was saying. 👍🥰

    Congratulations on 27k subscribers👋👋🎉🎉🎊🎊
Yes, i have ALWAYS had a gift box/closet and I have a notebook listing items and prices and where they're stored…especially if I have bought items for specific recipients….I still " hide" gifts for my kids because they might see them when they're over….lol

    Hi Emmy and Paul!
I love all the tips you shared!
    Sweet Dixie, she's so cute!
    I don't have a gift area persay.
    That's a great suggestion though.
    I typically bake for folks.
I kind of stopped buying for most people.
We get a few things for our kids.
I do like your ideas though!

I was so touched to see Dixie in bed sleeping on Paul's pillow. I had a dog, Gus who would do the same thing. Great vlog. I have a gift closet. I pick stuff up at end of season, just like you. Thank you

Hi Emmy and Paul, great video! We have used cash in the past to pay for items and it really does keep you on track. You see exactly how much money you have and know whether you have to put something back on the shelf. I haven't been paying with cash much lately – just tracking the spending I do with a debit or credit card – but I have thought about going back to cash to keep our actual spending at our budgeted spending. If we aren't careful, our actual spending can be much higher than our budgeted spending, and then I have to re-work the budget or else transfer money from savings, which isn't good. I don't really have a gift closet, except for wrapping paper, gift bags, cards, and boxes / tins for baked goods. We really don't exchange gifts much. But I do like to do Christmas baking and share with friends and family. I love your stockpile of beautiful Christmas serving plates!

I have heard about the pain of paying. Another lady I watch uses the cash envelope system. She says it really helps her to pay in cash. She is more conscious of what she buys. If I see small gifts at clearance prices I will buy and save for gifts. After Valentine's Day, I found pretty oven mitts with matching silicone spatulas that said "Baked with love". They were originally $5 a set and I got them for 50 cents a set. I buy nice yarn on clearance in June-July and crochet pretty gifts for giving throughout the year. It brings me joy to be able to do that for others.

I just started my gift closet about two weeks ago. I have been putting my son's Christmas presents in our bedroom closet and will move the closet upstairs soon once I add more to it.
Thank you for sharing your closet and what is inside with us. Those cookie sheets are such a great idea. That is such a meaningful present paired with freshly made pastries.

Right now I have gift shelves in our basement. I love the idea of bins though. Makes more sense to group things! I’ll do it on the frugal side and hunt my home for unused containers.
This video is a great voice of reason right now. We are frustrated with the cost of things. When we get frustrated, we want to feel better. Often that entails a purchase. You are right, think it through!!!
I just love our visits. Thank you for being the best accountability frugal friends I have ❤️

A other great video! I have a loft in my office, the gift closet. With a daughter in school and dance, lots of gifts in budget to share. I stock up when Starbucks tumblers go on sale, add a small gift card, perfect! Shops the semi annual bath and body work sale to give as gifts for a fraction of the price. And I shop all year for the holidays from sales so it spreads out the spending, and when I find a deal, snag it.

I started keeping a gift tote in my closet 30 yrs ago. It never failed my kids would get last minute birthday and such invitations. Then I’d tell them to go pick out a gift. Plus I’d always make sure there were gifts for adults as well. I never pd much and was done with gift shopping before the middle of the year.

Dixie is so funny! "But, mommy I am so sleepy. I 'm going to pretend I didn't hear you as I'm peacefully-deep into a dream." The lullaby music in the background is the best. Sweet dreams little one. 🌛🌠🌌

I have a credit card. I have a set up budget for food, bills, clothes, and miscellaneous. I pay everything with my credit card, at the end of the month the whole thing is reconciled and I get cash back on stuff I was gonna buy anyway. I don't have any type of debt, but get money back at the end of the month. I use fetch and get gift cards those are my Christmas presents.

I've been finding that even though i have a pretty strict grocery budget, i'll pay with debit and not even know what i've spent until i get out to the car and have a chance to look at the receipt. Luckily i make pretty good decisions as I'm going through the store. I also wanted to say congratulations on reaching 27,000 subscribers! You guys deserve that and so much more – you give such good advice and encouragement. And hugs to Dixie. Such a sweetheart. There's nothing like a sleeping pet to make you feel like taking a nap. I totally blame my cat for any naps I may be guilty of! 🙂 <3

Hi Emmy, I have to admit while I do have gifts they are not organized together but I like the idea of storing them in the fabric organizer you showed. I work with special needs adults and I am trying to show them how to give gifts that are budget friendly yet appropriate. They sometimes think they need to spend a lot. I will show them some of your upcoming budget gift videos.

When I get my Social Security check I take money out for fixed expenses and sinking funds for taxes and insurance. What’s left is what I have to spend for the month for any needs or wants. I put everything I can on my credit card because I get a rebate. I track my Credit card purchases on an app so I always knowing how much I’ve spent. Then at the end of the month(10 out of 12) I transfer unspent money into savings after paying off cc bill. Where I’m at in life I have pretty much everything I need. So it’s just a matter of replacing broken things or buying something I want. This system works for me. I only have one credit card, checking account or cash to use.

Hello 👋 watching you from BC, Canada 🇨🇦 I have gift containers. Throughout the year, I find good quality coupon & clearance items that I tuck aside. Along with a notepad in the container, with notes for myself. Ie; peppermint candle for mom, etc. So later in year, I have most things accounted for. I've been "gift closeting" for years & agree with you, this TRULY helps the wallet. I also do lots of mini jars of jams/jellies with pretty holiday themed cloth tops for gift giving all year long. Really enjoy your channel. Take care 🙂💕

I found that talking to people about just homemade gifts this year that many are super relieved and have some lovely ideas on what to gift you already. You can also prepare home made items now and put them in the gift closet, I have a birthday closet it is very small but I found some lovely useful items for the birthday person, sometimes it is tough when important birthdays fall just around Christmas so it is nice to know you have some things ready. Storage is a real issue for me, I actually think that many homes are now designed not to cater for storing a lot and I need everything stored behind doors or glass so it can be tricky, any ideas here would be helpful.

My kids are older and prefer cash instead of something they don’t really want. My husband and I buy presents for each other after Christmas during the sales. We save $ and get what we both want and need.

I have always kept a gift closet ever since my children started to get invitations when they were little. I always try to have one or two hostess gifts on hand. I shop for Christmas gifts and birthday gifts year round. This way I'm less stressed and and ready for guests or an invitation. Saves a lot of time and money.

Dixie is downright adorable! Years ago, I had a gift closet. I began buying gifts the day after Christmas and continued throughout the year. Then I would stash them away until Christmas came again. I only have one brother left to buy gifts for. The rest of my family has passed away now. My nieces and nephews are in their 40s and 50s, and have kids, grandkids and even a couple great-grandchildren. I quit trying to buy gifts for all of them about 25 years ago.

I have 2 small gift bins…one for children and one for adults. If I get something for free or make a crocheted dish cloth or get something small marked down, I will put it in the appropriate bin as a little 'thinking of you' gift. For Christmas I have already started collecting things in a separate bin. For instance today we bought 5 nice vintage Hardy Boys books for our grandson at a garage sale, so I am saving them as part of his Christmas. I made tea towels out of a vintage Christmas tablecloth, so have 3 of those to gift. I bought Christmas serving pieces at the thrift store for the homemade goodies we will give neighbors and co-workers. And I have my daughter's favorite lip balm that I purchased on clearance. Little by little I'll keep buying Christmas gifts as I see them. Fun!
