Coming from a human aspect when humans become more and more geriatric their taste buds change and a lot of elderly tend to prefer sweeter flavors in later stages of life..maybe its the same for our animal family members. Just a thought not a fact.

My dog did something very similar to Fred when the company I was getting his food from changed the source of where they got the salmon that was in the food, so it could be something as small as that which made him stop eating it and throwing it up.

Sometimes they change suppliers and even though the ingredients are the same they’re really not. Also they change recipes sometimes. And my cats are always deciding they don’t like whatever anymore randomly, especially wet food. They also love plain cooked chicken (definitely no onion or garlic bc it’s bad for them). I’d just try another kind until she likes something:) donate the other food to a local feral cat group or food bank or shelter. Or return it- I hear chewy is really good about returns:)

The food made him sick so when he smells it again he knows not to eat it. Fred is smart. Have you ever been sick after eating something and then not want that thing for a long time after that experience.?

Girl you have empowered me so much! The person who said who care bout your mom? They can fuck off. That’s just horrible thing to say to someone. And I myself know how you feel bout losing your mom. I lost mine July 10,2019. It was a huge shock for my sister and I as well. The pain never goes away and it’s horrible thing to lose your parents. I’ve lost just about all of my family in a span of 7 years. And this mess with the pandemic has been especially hard on everyone especially if they’ve lost someone. I lost my grandma last year December 26,2021. The day after Christmas last year. I’m so sorry you lost your mother. She was gone too soon. She did an amazing job with you. She was beautiful as are you. And as for you not wanting to birth kids. I totally support you 100%. That is your body and your choice. Keep cooking and keep being the amazing woman that you are!!! I love watching you, Fred, and Aaron. And even if it’s just you and Fred. Y’all are amazing human beings!!! 🧡🧡💕❤️❣️💓🤍💜🤎💖💛🖤💘💞👏👏👏

Sometimes animals will remember what the ate before they threw up and then will Associate the food to making making sick. Sometimes taking a break from the food for a while will help. We have a family dog that has to check out the food first to make sure no medicine is in there. Just a helpful tip if he is eating everything else.

I've had the same experience with my cat, whom I've had for almost 20 years. She will throw up on occasion but sometimes she has thrown up a certain food and then never want that particular food again. Try switching to another brand. The last time this happened with Mathilde, I had to try 3 different brands before I found one she likes again. ❤

My dog would only eat my cooking🤣🤣🤣🤣. He absolutely refuse to eat canned food & kibbles, so i ended up put my mixed grain rice into tiny containers for him to eat w/ boiled chicken or pork.

Just a thought for Fred’s food. Our kitty did the same thing. Turns out the company that made our exorbitantly overpriced organic cat food changed the recipe of her favorite kind. She threw up in two stages and refused to go anywhere near it. Needless to say, I make the cat food myself now once a week, because it was so much cheaper and easier and so far that’s been working out great. 🐈‍⬛

When my Kitty was sick vet said he could eat salmon (I used canned) for 2 weeks, and if he had to be on it long term then we would need to add taurine, bone meal (both available at vitamin store) and vet would give me cat vitamin to add. Maybe at least have a chat with vet about it. Animals can be super sensitive to changes in commercial pet food recipes, but sweet Fred might be averse just because he associates his cat food with getting sick. I know you take wonderful care of him. Hope you will all be well soon.
