Hey, I recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the ripe old age of 18. I used to be about 320 pounds. I got scared by that number and worked my way down to 287 with treadmill being my morning routine. I knew that it was hereditary, my mother and grandmother both have it. But it feels like everything I did, all those turned down desserts and early morning walks were for nothing. My doctor was so preoccupied with telling me how serious it was that I got it this young that he called my mother later. She told me he wanted to congratulate me for losing 30 pounds. I just couldn’t feel happy about it. My mom keeps saying I look different but I can’t tell the difference in a mirror. I feel like a failure.

Just have "some". That's my portion trick. Not a bit, not a lot, but "some". Balance it out. Maybe do some low carb/keto meals too." Some" is my favorite word for eating habits. 🙂 "Satisfied" is my other favorite word.

Its a double edged sword. You vote for the foods that you want the manufacturers make with the dollars you spend on them and its up to you to decide to treat food as medicine and not an indulgent entertainment. However, the food manufacturers spend a crap ton of money to make food as "addictive" as legally possible.

I find that fast food meals are more satisfying and keeps me fuller longer. And home cooked meals, though tastier, doesn't.
For example, A medium size big Mac meal keeps me full til morning. But two equal size helpings of a home made pit roast dinner will still leave me hungry. I will end up snacking or going back for a third helping near midnight.
Leaves me to believe there is something addicting in fast/processed food.
