I made this for the first time today and it was amazing! I let it sit for 12 hours. I don’t have a dutch oven, so I skipped preheating the pan. For the baking part that required a lid, I just put the dough in a 9×9 pan and with foil on top (leaving enough room in the middle for the bread to rise with tightly sealed edges). Husband and I instantly agreed this will be part of our regular meal plans!

Thanks so much for sharing this recipe and tips! I haven't made bread very many times and I have to admit hot, fresh baked bread is a weakness! Waiting for it to cool off…not my strong suit! NOW I know why the texture would get kind of gummy and pretty very undesirable texture! So, a big thanks for that tip!

I was going to make this today and pulled the recipe and had a laugh … Directions say "In a large bowl, combine water, yeast, salt, and water into a large bowl and mix" LOVE IT – of course first ingredient should be flour." May want to change that LOL I only laugh because it's something I would do and I'm a web designer. 🙂

Thanks for this video! I had a craving for bread but not enough time to make baguettes. The loaf came out wonderfully! (And my friend benefited too because she stopped by the day after I made it. 😆)

Has anyone made this bread in anything besides a Dutch oven? I don’t own one but am wanting to try this. Not sure if a cast iron skillet topped with foil would be better or trying a regular bread pan.

I have been baking bread for years of various types. Sourdough is our favorite but I don't have a starter right now and tried this recipe – WOW – we love it. Tis a close 2nd to the sourdough. I love that it doesn't mold like a lot of moister breads do – and it's not dry. Love the texture – just love this bread. I am back here to get the recipe printed to get another loaf started tonight. Thanks Much Becky, Leona

All the breadmaking videos on YouTube are for big, round, rustic loaves. I want yummy bread I can use for sandwiches and put in my toaster without cutting in half. Can I put this dough in a standard loaf pan instead of dutch oven? Do I cover the pan with foil for the first part of the baking? Would it be better with bread flour? Can I substitute part of the flour with wheat flour?

Hello Becky, first time attempting to make your bread. It seems as if it is a no fail. Just one question; Does it matter what type of flour you use? Just started watching your videos, love them!

Have you ever shared what containers you store your daily use flour and baking supplies in? I'm still searching for the right solution for my kitchen – large enough to get measuring cups in but close up well enough to keep fresh and be airtight…. Totally alluding me

Becky, your channel is blowing up! I've been following you for two years I loved your video with your mom and dad helping you harvest. Your dad is so cute! His channel should do well too! Happy for you. Just keep on keeping it real. That's why everyone loves you!!! Totally jealous of your garden. In southern Illinois, it was not a good year for the garden (my second year). Hopefully next year I can get a quarter of your harvest! I'm planting kohlrabi now and obsessed with ferments. 🤗

I just made this bread yesterday. I deviated a little in the baking process, but it still turned out beautiful. I am collecting recipes for pizza dough, tortillas, and breads made the old school way without fancy tools. I will be making this regularly. Thank You Becky 🙂
