i wonder why you don't use coconut cream type frostings more often…Maybe because it's canned..?…But you could also blend up "fresh' coconut, or blended coconut chips or flakes…i think coconut is one of the most perfect foods, together with chocolate, especially….Or maybe a blend of cashew and coconut….π
I'll make it for my birthday!! Thank you Jill : )
Hi Jill, in the video you say 1 1/2 cups of dates for the cake, but the recipe linked below says 3/4 cup. Can you clarify? Thanks! These sound amazing =)
I'm excited for this recipe! Black Forest Cake was my husband's favorite cake before he developed Celiac's disease, and we went vegan. I'm going to make these for him, and see what he thinks! Thank you for posting this!

What would be the best gluten free substitute for those who cannot tolerate oats? Sorghum flour perhaps? Suggestions? TIA

So many substitutes for nuts in a frosting! White beans are a great option and add additional protein
Can you do more close ups of the final product so we can see the texture of the sponge please? Thank you!π
Hi Jillπ
As a cashew substitute you can probably also use beans.
If you are not strictly gluten Free, you can use half Wheat Flour and half oat flour. That's what I did this past weekend when I made Jill's Oreo Cake. It stabilizes the crumb and it's easier to handle with the Wheat in it.
Wow, I'm sure these are amazing. Have to remember the frosting base. Cashews are so versatile
I have been obsessed with cherries and cacao lately so this is greatly appreciated! Making these for Easter!

Thank you from Israel for all your amazing recipes! There are many fans of your channel here!
So another lady says she substitutes nuts with raw sunflower seeds or hemp. And she will use half hemp half sunflower seeds ..
Just a suggestion: Tiger nuts are marble sized tubers. They may work are a substitute for nuts in this recipe. I do make tiger nut milk and then use the pulp in baking…it works the same as almond pulp. tiger nuts are pretty pricey for sure, but the flavor is absolutely wonderfully sweet!
Nice π
Thank you, for all the free recipes. π
