Man this looks like a great fire house meal after some alarms in the cold/rain/snow. BTW every taco bell we have in the St Louis/Metro East carries the chili cheese burrito. We're pretty lucky.

Ok so i made this tonight. I used to manage a Taco Bell for 2 years back in the 90s. We had the chilito on our menu. Though this recipe is close. And good. It Never ever had refried beans in it. The way it was made was using hot bunn water and a chili seasoning pouch. Then we added the Taco meat to it until it was proper consistency. And to tortilla with cheese. I always added sour cream too. Needless to say… This recipe Still was good. But I'm not a fan of the beans. Next time I'll do the same way but eliminate the beans and reduce the water to 1 and 1/2 cups.

Does anybody know why the Chilito was dropped? It seems so Beloved. I was all in until the Fritos. I try to avoid as much Salt as possible. Otherwise so many ways to do this👍

The one brand of chili that I use that is SUPER close to the chili cheese burrito from Taco Bell is: Armour brand chili with no beans. It almost tastes exactly like it! Your recipe looks great as well, I will be sure to give it a shot 🙂

Well, sir..idk. Wife worked at TB a while ago (like when it FIRST came out), and assembly was tortilla, chili (prepacked, so beans are unknown), sprinkle of WHITE onion, cheese; into steamer OPEN for a 8-10 second cycle, out, and fold n wrap. Gonna have to try this, but to me at least..the steamer softened the tortilla just right..

Like the recipe gonna try this! Tip for the tomato paste, use the can opener to open both sides of the can, take the top off one side, and push the bottom all the way through the can. You'll get out all the tomato paste without using a spoon! It's awesome!

I have some spatula's like that. I don't think I had ever had their Chilito, but I just started going to a Taco Bell about 2 years ago. Keep stiring it up , don't want no stickage! That looks like a hearty . We eat a lot of chili, cheese and fritos, but more in the cold weather. Good job Jaxx!

Jaxx… Dude… I got to try that. Man I bet my kids would love these too. I would have to add a little sour cream (Just a dollop) on top of the fritos. Yum yum. You are right, that is Gucci haha. I got to go print this one out.
