I stockpile underwater and socks, good to have extra, underwater has went up in price. Also stock pile about 2 months extra canned cat food and extra dish soap bar soap and laundry soap trash can liners paper towel toilet paper tooth paste and tooth brushes floss. Thing that would not be good to not be able to get.

Thing we always have to have in stock – tea bags & honey, chocolate, & potato chips. If I didn’t have those comfort foods my spouse would be so grumpy πŸ˜‚

In my culture keeping a well stocked pantry is a part of life. I always keep extra soap, deodorant and personal items. Toilet paper is something I have kept well stocked all of my adult life. As a child we always ran out πŸ™„

I used to work in a clinic. I stockpile the usual necessities, but I also stockpile first aid supplies like rubbing alcohol, peroxide, antibiotic and cortisone ointment, various sizes of bandages, tylenol and ibuprofen and benadryl spray. It's been very handy to have many times.

Toiletries: TP; mascara, lip balm, floss (because I buy these three things in the US and take them to the UK)

Food: Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Spice tea, beef jerky/salami sticks, mustards, cumin, onions

    House: Beeswax candles

Small house – not a lot of space for extra stuff. But also I often stop liking something once I have a stash of it, then it's a slog to use it up. I don't mind running out of a lot of things and then seeing how long I can go without them!

I stock pile 2yrs worth of furnace filters and water filters for our water system. That's on top of food. When I get down to just having a year's worth of filters I buy more. With a 12mth leeway I can weather any shortages as they always seem to show back up in the stores in a few months.

I can't drive so I tend to stockpile a variety of items so I'll have easy access to them: coffee, like you said… also soda, frozen food, skincare, Bath and Body Works products, clothes.

Excellent items, Dawn! As an IBS sufferer, we're never without tp, lol. Other than our grocery stockpile, our items are the same as yours except for coffee as we drink tea. Also, I don't dare keep semi-sweet chocolate chips in the house because I'll eat them. We don't use body wash but I keep some on hand for guests. We use Safeguard soap for my husband and Dove for me. The little bits of soap I make into liquid hand soap. I'll break it into very tiny pieces, mix it with a little hot water to help it dissolve, add a little Ivory dishwashing liquid and fill the rest of the soap dispenser with the remaining hot water. I give it a good shake before I use it each time. I love the way it feels and cleans. I know there's a way to dissolve grated soap in boiling water that probably works better; however, this works for me as it's easy and quick. Great video! Love ya, Linda πŸ’•

I do NOT stock pile anything and it saves me even MORE money since nothing expires or forgotten. Even if I ran out of something, I became creative and substituted with something else. It also keeps me from overeating. Never felt deprived or hungry. I am 54, 120 lbs.

I live out in the country and have to drive a distance to go shopping so I have always stockpiled items. I try to stockpile everything we use on a daily basis and also things that people don't typically think of… Motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, mouse poison and traps, wasp and insect sprays, matches and firestarters, bleach, lysol, etc. I think my top products would be toilet paper, coffee, sugar, oats, flour, beans and rice.

I am a single who spent the beginning of the year donating stockpile that was still good but I was not going to eat. Now I have given myself permission to toss some food every week in the trash and to make myself eats some of that food to teach myself a lesson. I find I am unable to take advantage of sales of foods that I like because I foolishly used my space for cheap foods that I don’t like so I don’t starve to death.

I do belong to Costco and buy their paper towels and some refrigerated or frozen foods i enjoy. I shop sales and do buy multiples of items I like and have shopped this way for many many years.

Great video! I will check out Kate next. I like to stock pile…dry beans/lentils and some grains like wheat berries and quinoa so I can always make soup. I also keep some other dry foods to make it taste OK. COFFEE beans…if I have a nice coffee I can get through a tough time though I brew it weaker and savor it more. This will seem SILLY to townies…a 2nd vehicle and a list of phone numbers of people who go by my place regularly who are friends. I live 11 miles from any town and 25 miles from a gas station so 2 crappy vehicles are better than 1 good one. Candles (from thrift and then I melt the nubbins and use bits of wood for the wicks on the re-used candles sometimes), TP!, batteries and a headlamp. Also, blankets and towels, sox and undies.

For decades, we've had room for 2 big packs on the shelf and 1 in the bathroom for toilet paper after resorting to kleenex 1 too many times; after 2020 it was 3 big packs on the shelf. Tp prices are rising per unit in our area, the other half said no to family cloths, we came across our normal brand at 1/3 to 1/2 less per unit, and are now stocked for a year. A while ago we came across Dawn at 75%-90% off and bought quite a quantity to last a couple of years and we can see the ending coming. In 2020, we came across the shampoo and cream rinse brand we use for hair and shower wash in acceptable scents at significant savings and bought a quantity we are still working out way through. We routinely buy a 1 gallon jug of full strength Simple Green in the fall when stores are clearing out thier summer stock; we ended up with what is now almost 2 gallons, one unopened and one condensed so we're not purchasing this year. We have enough hand sanitizers in different sizes purchased at assorted significant clearance prices we are using in substitution for most of our normal rubbing alcohol uses; and as hand sanitizer. I bought a bunch of bar soap as our preferred brand at the Dollar Store was down sizing, was given a baggie full of assorted types by one person, and once heard of given more by another; we still have a "bunch". Normally I have a stock of toothpaste but, we are buying a few at a time as needed; same with toothbrushes.

Normally we have a stock of coffee grounds and hot cocoa mix which I use in my coffee on the shelf. Usually we try to buy each on sale. My biggest stock up on coffee was when 3lb cans (yes, Virginia they did exist outside of books) went to $1.99/ can and I took $100 plus coins to the store to buy 51 cans, discovered they had gone down to $1.25 then bought $125 worth filling the back of the truck; our life circumstances changed a bit so we were going through as much and it lasted longer than anticipated. We have come across 2 coffee grounds sales and have a bit of a stock but I'm hoping, cash flow and availability withstanding, we can stock for a year on some $4.99/ 25 oz can coffee at the end of this week. Were running low on chocolate mix but I have some milks to try out as an alternative;depending, we may buy in quantity at a good price. We have big bag contents of cornmeal, old fashioned oats, and sugar purchased during larder plan 3 to stockup on things that make things along with some spices, leavening agents, corn starch, etc…purchased at good and also then current prices; now upto excellent prices. We have enough olive oil to last a year purchased at what was then a good price. Not sure how much butter is left but, we have 1 case purchased at $1.99/ pound and 2 cases at $1/ pound.

We missed the window for $.99/ ea canned fruit but over about 6 weeks, did buy 48 tropical fruit, fruit cocktail on an aim for 1/ wk and $.99/ ea; the goal is 52 or 1/ we for 1 year with replenishment along the way. We shall see what our pantry count is, if there is anymore left, and what our cash flow is. We missed canned veggies at $.46, then $.50, but did buy some at $.58/ ea; the goal is 3 can green beans/ wk or 156 cans. Scored $.58/ ea beets at Walmart, bought 12 or 1/ month; looks liked canned veggies are going to $.98/ ea at Walmart. Have 24 cans of black beans on the shelf bought at $3/ 12 cans, or $.30/ ea. We've been buying the 4 pack Walmart tubes of canned chicken for $9.98, down from thier high of $14.98; were eating them but the goal is 52 cans. We have cases of some creamed soup, unfortunately purchased after a price increase, that dint raise the other half's blood sugar as tested by the type, brand (particular house brand), and size of can; yes, the blood sugars tell us there is a formulation change in different sized cans of the same type. We add veggies and/ or meat to these soups of which the combination is more complete and 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a particular deli soup that doesn't raise blood sugars. We did pick up 12 containers of Baby Ray's Original BBQ sauce elapse its the first BBQ sauce (at least in 2TBs servings) that hasn't particularly raised nor skyrocketed blood sugars in 25 years; it was new to our area in the 2nd quarter 2022. And we're working on some particular mustards at 12 ea.

August began our 5th approach to filling the larder in 2022. The compliation isn't too bad and life had different plans than larder filling in September. The freezer has a dwindling number of the $2.28/ lb lean pork roasts we replenished in early September and the frozen veggies we bought at the end of August with the left over gas money (think we lucked into this a day or two before a price increase). I have a particular coffee ($4.99/ 25 oz) and some tomato products in mind, cash flow and availablity withstanding ; Italian 29oz ish sized cans of diced tomatoes for $1/ ea, 8oz cans of tomato sauce at 3/ $1 with both well within date. Beyond this, its been almost 2 wks since we've particularly wandered grocery aisles, who knows what happened to prices.

I make sure to have TP, paper towels, coffee, razors, batteries, and some shelf stable foods on hand. I don't overbuy laundry soap, toothpaste or sunscreen as these have some limited shelf life. Unlike some, I am trying to use what I have in case I move in a year; won't have room to bring much with me.

Ditto. Now I'm sure we're twins! I also keep matches with every candle and a candle in every room. I like a flashlight in every room, too. I like to stock up on some extra canned food. In the past I've kept a supply of laundry products, too.
    Love to you!

All great tips! We also keep extra furnace filters because sometimes our size in unavailable. We store tap water in 2 liter pop bottles in case our water is off. With this size we can pour into a small trash basket to flush the toilets. We keep extra drinking water as well as food storage. Also first aid items, plus rubbing alcohol and peroxide. Be prepared and no need to fear. Have a wonderful Monday!😊

We stockpile the same things you do. We bought a bidet last year for $45 at Home Depot. It was one of the best investments ever…we don't have to buy but about half the amount of toilet paper now.

Hi Dawn, I stockpile a lot of different things. Bar soap, toilet paper, most toiletries. Canned goods. Food that you have to buy in bottle form. Always stockpile napkins, paper towels, paper goods. That way we have them when we have family for the holidays. Or maybe when my chronic condition that I deal with gives me a day that's a little rough and I'm not really able to wash dishes we can use disposable. All your suggestions were great I wholeheartedly agree. If you have the room stockpile if you can. Definitely don't have to buy excessive amounts but to have a few extra on hand is always a great idea. Especially as prices go higher and higher.

I stockpile all shelf stable items that my family uses. I started this in 2020, and its taken me two years to work my way up to do it for everything, but my goal is one year's worth. Food, toiletries, candles, medicine etc. I also buy packages of underwear and socks for my family members, and at the end of each season I purchase clothing and shoes in the next size up for my kids when they go on clearance. Now I will admit, I am currently reorganizing everything, and I store it in sections and by expiry dates, and that process can be a bit overwhelming, but it allows me to see where the gaps are, and what needs to be prioritized to be used up. In the end, it does give me piece of mind that my family is taken care of.
