For accurate measurement use a liquid measuring cup to measure a liquid {water}.
My ratio
2 cups steel coat oats
7 cups water
LOVE LOVE LOVE my instant pot!>>>ur2.pl/1046 It is definitely not a necessity for everyone, but it has certainly made my life easier. I think the 8 quart version we got is maybe a little large for most people's needs, but I really appreciate the versatility of being able to put a larger quantity into the pot – it's made dishes like stir-fry and rice possible to cook at the same time. If you're on the fence about what size to get, or if you should get one at all, I would say go for it!

So, that's a dry measuring cup you're using there to measure the water. The measurements given for water in the manual are most certainly for liquid cups.

I am thinking about investing in an Instant Pot and was wondering if it would cook steel cut oats, I just loved your demonstration, answered all of my questions, thanks for posting.
1/4 cup oats needed that amount of water. (1.5 cups) Sooo 1 cup would be 4x the water. (1.5 x4 =6)
1 cup of oats to 6 cups water.
Looks pretty darn dry to me… needs more water for sure! And … its an instanT Pot.. not.. Insta Pot (3:07) though I know I want to call it that too (they missed a marketing opportunity there!)
Can you add milk to the pot instead of water?
It looks like it stuck to your pan. I will suggest to use a little bit less time or add mroe water. Unless you like it the way it turned out 🙂 Much love
