Start with onion, garlic, and carrots— Always a winning combo!!
One suggestion that really upped my split pea soup game. Take a half an onion and stud it with six whole cloves. You'll love it

It's weird, I like every ingredient in that soup. Not a fan of split pea soup though. Think it reminds too much of the barf in the exorcist.

One of my all-time favorite soups, and that version looks amazing!! When I lived with my wife in her hometown of Bayonne, NJ years ago, one of our favorite local diners (that she had been going to for decades) had that as a special every Thursday, and they used to make their own crispy, buttery croutons, and we always ordered extra to go with their delicious version which we’d order with some of our favorite sandwiches and entrées 😋
