Will be making this tomorrow morning, or at least I will be trying to make this! lol because I have some beans and ham hocks, already as leftovers so now I’m going to add this as a side with fried chicken!

Great recipe! But turkey bacon is too dry for me . I’m a non pork eater so I use Beef Bacon- yes! Beef bacon,. Been eating it for years . I get it from Walmart cuz it’s $5.98 a pack and Stater Bros and Ralph’s is $8!!! You’ll get the fat you need for flavor and the taste is delicious!!!! Just thought I’d share that for ppl that don’t like turkey bacon. I’m in Southern California so don’t know if it’s available at all Walmart’s.

U don’t need any meat when making greens and cabbage and green beans…All u need is chicken stock as a base, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, red pepper flakes!….and if u want a meat taste use goya ham seasoning….oh yeah and add a lil tee tee of sugar and accent….cover and let dat thing simmer…then get u some brown gravy mix and add that in there towards the end to give it a nice consistency…..SOUTH CAROLINA ALL DAY!!!…

OMG!!!!!! This is my second time making this combination and this is still awesome. The only thing I changed was I let simmer after putting in the garlic for about 5 mins so all the ingredients can get married then added 1 cup of chicken broth and rest water since I'm not tying to add any salt since the bacon already salty. And let it cook around 20 mins. Don't like my greens to crunchy. Cooking the 5 or 6 mins before adding the broth cuts down on the 40 mins cooking time. Give these changes won't be disappointed.

I know of mixing greens. Mustard/Turnip, or either one with Collard. I have never thought of combining Collard and Cabbage. Thanksgiving is coming up. I think I will try this…

Sis, you should look into revising some of your classics for the ketogenic crowd. Other than all the onions & peppers, this is a very keto-friendly meal (keto enthusiasts would probably cook in butter, double the bacon, use Himalayan pink salt and bone broth). Yumm!

Looks good! Have you ever added vinegar to give it a lil tang? I will try this using ham I stead of bacon, as bacon doesn't agree with me even though I love it. I will use Crisco or olive oil to saute the ham.
