For me, rinsing lifts all the dark particles out of the grits. Keeps my imagination at bay 🤣🤣🤣
I don’t rinse mine…. And I do have to use water with a little milk added …. Salt and pepper no sugar ! 😊

I never saw anyone put butter 8n before grits are even cooked, I add butter after my grits are done. Also,I put them in my plate , why, I gave added butter upon and after my grits are done. Guess what? Regardless, someone still will add more butter in their grits, SO, let them, don't cook it in the po i never knew anyone to rinse grits,or rice?
I love grits with extra butter & sugar. But most definitely rinsing them before cooking them.
