People sometimes keep Tang for like if there’s an emergency I guess it’s something that just lasts a long time and could help you get through if you were starving I guess

It’s crazy to see how sexist the marketing was in these vintage ads. On the TV dinners, it was the wife’s responsibility to fix dinner for her husband (and look perfect doing so), even when he invited a guest without a courtesy call. On the Tropicana ad, there was a little Polynesian girl, topless… wow. The Special K ad was marketed at a new mother losing the baby weight. Those TV dinners look appetizing on the packaging, but what’s inside the box looks like slop 🤢

+LauraMitbrodt One item that sees considerable consumption in my house is KRAFT® Easy Cheese®, a further evolution of Cheez-Whiz® Pasteurized Process Cheese Food. Imperial® Margarine allows me to conserve butter for recipes that demand it. Incidentally, SWANSON® TV Brand Dinners were the inspiration of a commentary in rock song:

TV DINNERS / ZZ TOP (Warner Bros./WMG album 23774 Eliminator, track 8)
(William Frederick Gibbons/Joseph Michael Hill/Frank Lee Beard) Hamstein Music, ASCAP

You sure took one for the team when you ate two sugary cereals in a row. Very interesting video. A couple of products, I didn’t realize were that old. Take care 🤗💖
