Sancocho Dominican aka Dominican Sancocho is a traditional Dominican soup/stew that’s usually made with 7 meats. However, today I’m going to use 5 meats.
This is very similar to a Louisiana gumbo. When we cook gumbo, family members usually show up. I see it's the same in the Caribbean. Gumbo here, is the equivalent of Sancocho in D.R.
I'm from NYC and every Spanish person has a least 2 or more of them pots..

It’s amazing how many foods are universal… I’m West African and this is a variation of what some countries call ‘yehbeh’… The only difference is some of the seasonings and the pork… But we literally add EVERY meat we can find, (yellow) plantain, and all the same starches… And we use that same BIG pot (the older, the better lol)… And it tastes AMAZING!!! Best food for a cold!
