LOVE LOVE LOVE my instant pot!>>>ur2.pl/1046 It is definitely not a necessity for everyone, but it has certainly made my life easier. I think the 8 quart version we got is maybe a little large for most people's needs, but I really appreciate the versatility of being able to put a larger quantity into the pot – it's made dishes like stir-fry and rice possible to cook at the same time. If you're on the fence about what size to get, or if you should get one at all, I would say go for it!

LoL Pretty cool…. On my IP I have to wiggle the little plug to get it to seal. I have cleaned it, vegetable oiled it, nothing works. Also after less than a year the second number does not work correctly. I still love the unit but I think with my unit they missed the quality boat a bit. I've yet to call their customer service as I under stand they have good customer service, however, even if they fix it for free, I can't fathom sending it away for time it takes for repairs. Is probably less expensive to purchase another 6qt. Instant Pot and hope it lasts longer. Love the unit, disappointed it it's quality. I don't even use mine that hard, I'd say twice to three times a week max and that is not even every week.

I usually winter in Arizona, but alas not this year. I could probably ask one of my Canadian friends who will be wintering there, to get me one – or maybe two! Thank you for asking though – very thoughtful.

I think one of the tasks of the weight valve is the security. When I packed my IP too much with krupnik soup (barley) IP turned off and released pressure which built up too high. The soup was spilling through the valve. I would not use anything which can block it because I treat it as a safety mechanism. It happened only once but I rather have it ready to work as intended than protect my cabinets

I enjoy using the Instant pot, but its seam release feature is a very poorly executed idea. More thought should have been used before presenting it to the public. They should ALL and ONLY be sold with SAFETY releases. I don't know how this feature got past OSHA or whatever Department approves products sold to the public. The steam release is just about the only feature I dislike on the IP, but its a HUGE dislike! : (
