We challenged resident Bon Appétit supertaster and test kitchen director Chris Morocco to recreate Julia Child’s coq au vin recipe using every sense he has …
once again im going to say it, used a judge that actually can taste the food on spot
Who would've put olive oil to the french dish instead of butter :O
Until BA brings back the old crew I will ALWAYS skip commercials. And only watch Chris and Brad.
Did I miss seeing something ? I don't recall him using anything with tomato as an ingredient.
I'm really surprised that he guessed "old school" coq au vin with Julia Child or Jacques Pepin and didn't instantly lock onto red wine. Traditional coq au vin's two most iconic ingredients are chicken and red wine.
I feel like Chris needs an easy confidence boosting episode of this series😂

WHITE TEXT ON A WHITE KITCHEN. C'mon, editor person. Up the grey background, or pick another color.
Chris is a solid B student.
Luv when he explains and words get bigger
Just goes to show less is more, flavors can be made in different ways.
I just cant take chris seriously with that mask 😂
Oh I love "Coke Oven".
I love watching you break down these dishes. It's so fascinating.
He did know what it was and I’m surprised that he didn’t get closer to be honest. Especially the second time when he said he would make changes but didn’t really
Recreate this dish that has 96 ingredients in it.
This is pure blasphemy. He knows its Coq Au Vin but goes against most that makes the dish what it is. Automatic F.
The blindfold is too good LMAO!
Love this concept… Well played !
Way over-scored this one. Nevertheless, Chris is a genius. I could never get anywhere close to his final dishes, even if I wasn’t blindfolded for the tastings. Absolutely love this series.
Sorry bro, I think you're great at what you do but I strongly disagree with your score… Using anything other than red wine should result in a failing score… Not to mention not deglazing with the chicken in the pan! 😒
“Coke oven” 😂
The White Wine chicken looked so much more appetizing than the Red Wine! Red chicken just feels wrong…
way too generous lol
0:19 oh we are making coke, are we dan? hahaha
This is so simple and awesome recipe ❤️ Best Chef ❤️
the scoring sucks… he's more at a 72%. Why so generous?
I'm a little baffled that he didn't know Coq Au Vin uses red wine.
I'm sorry how is that a B???? The grading is just some nonsense at this point, the entertainment I get is watching his thought process rather than seeing the end score. He missed like a million ingredients and he cooked everything in the wrong order and his dish is a completely different color. How that is not a D or a C- at best is beyond me
Frankly, Chris's dish is more appealing visually. I suppose I'm not a fan of mauve. Kind of weird that he didn't consider herbs such as bay leaf and thyme.
Awesome video!
Wooow nice one💗
Honestly, I have got to say, these videos being filmed in a sterile set kitchen has none of the heart of the old videos. People wandering through the video or being called in were the best part. I understand that part of it was mixed up in them not paying people for video appearances, but there has to be some middle ground because there is nothing worth watching here with the change in locale/environment. (The exception of course is if they're still practicing strict Covid separation)
Rie and Chris both make Coq Au Vin My week is complete and it's Tuesday. 😍😍😍
This one of my favorite series please make more!!
Dude…. where is the butter? While I think I know what it's like to be in your head for the most part?… some things still elude me. HAHAHA! Great job!! Still a complete badass!! <3
Color hint should be a free bee, at original tasting. We visually judge so much by color but color often doesn't have a taste.
Chris's version looks better in my opinion and is way less complicated.
It felt like a very different dish, specially in the technique, but ended up B+. Wow ok.
As far as looks, I prefer Chris's version.
I think your chicken looks better! 2ho wants that strange looking red chicken! I thought this when I watched the original show of Julia and didn't understand then why she didn't use white wine! Go Chris! Love your vids!
