In my home country, we don't use pressure cookers that much but I moved to Spain 2 years ago and I was very surprised to see how much they use it. I was sold on the idea a long time ago because it's great to be able to cook things like lentils really fast (the way they cooked lentils in the video is exactly how I learned to cook them)
In Turkish kitchen it is a pretty common thing to have. As opposed to the common opinion, it is mainly used for beans, soups and stocks rather than meat.
As I went vegan, pressure cooker became my best friend since I can cook legumes fast and I can cut down on soaking time as well. I feel like it is a must in my kitchen!
My my… in India since time immemorial you use a pressure cooker to cook literally anything. Rice, lentils, meat….. Literally anything. When I got a German exchange student for a room mate she was surprised and amazed by pressure cooker and was saddened she don't get it in Germany…. 🤷♀️
Unless I am making mashed potatoes I don't use a pressure cooker.
my mom bought a 500 euro zepter pressure cooker when i was 13yr old and never used it , time to brake it open
Another tasty dish to cook in a pressure cooker: NIHARI!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZOXDAvMCM4 . Its difficult to get the spice mix right for nihari so we use packaged spice mix https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/256576528 . Just fry off garlic ginger onion paste in oil, add meat and bones and the spice mix, fry that off and then add water. Let it cook for an hour in the pressure cooker and then thicken the gravy with slurry. Garnish with fresh ginger, coriander, green chilies and dont forget to squeeze lemon juice. Enjoy with fresh Naans!
still haven't seen something that would make me buy one…
You guys hve to do something like ultimate ingredients with gadgets like u cook traditionally and then in a gadet and normals identify which is which
They're inexperienced with pressure cookers cuz they're just babies. My (ancient) generation was taught to use them when we learned to cook. Cooks things in approximately 1/3 the normal time. Very little evaporation so use less liquids
I do agree with the professionals about the 3 different ways of using a pressure cooker. Ver interesting
Risotto takes about 20 minutes not 40!

oxtail in my country is really cow tail lol.
we literally pressure cook at least four to five times a week…
I came here to watch the cooking but I was so distracted and COULDN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF OF this bearded guy. He looks like a copy of a guy I was in a relationship for 2 years (ex BF). I loved-hated it. Cheers from London xxx
As a Mexican I can't understand how is posible that you don't use it in your home? 40yo and my mother, my grandma use it a lot for alot of things since I can remember…. "don't get close to the olla de presión" as kid was pretty normal.
Hey hey hey, you chuckle when you say ''if you don't have an oven'' but as someone who lives in a council flat with a kitchen so small I had to chose between a fridge or a oven (obviously a fridge) these reviews are genuinely helpful………… as are individual induction hobs 😂
If you don't know how to use a pressure cooker, learn how to do it or you make fools of yourselves.
@sortedfood use a Hawkins (brand) pressure cooker that has a whistle on top 😂😂
Pressure cooker (instant pot, here) is great for potatoes, some chicken dishes, and (especially) steel cut oats.
For stuff like pulled pork, I used sous vide (18 hours).
10:11 – James has obviously been upgraded from a Scotsman to a Scotsman/Food Processor hybrid!
Cheesecake is usually hard because of a bain marie (scalding danger) and the odds of the top cracking.
risotto is a dish most home cooks can not be bothered to cook. After work, with kids running around demanding your attention is not risotto time. BUT in a pressure cooker it is something you could do without being chained to the stove.
why you eat rice with fork….?
Please list the ingredients for the pulled pork recipe?
Never used a pressure cooker. I did buy a very small one (2l) just to cook dried beans. I love that dried beans are shelf stable and in pandemic times they're good food to have in the pantry. For the two of us it's just the right size and I can make a bean dish on short notice without having to resort to using canned beans. Other than that I have no desire to use a pressure cooker.
"Look into the steam, look into the steam.." Was that a Little Britain reference?
Do the maggots sprinkled over the oxtail help the flavour or does it give a zing in the mouth with the wriggling?
pressure cookers are also used a lot here in the UK, i think most families i knew growing up used them as it meant you could have a lot of meat based meals done cheaper and quicker for school days
Honestly, when I moved to australia, i was shocked that people boil lentils, rice, quinoa etc in pots rather than pressure cooker. takin years to cook with a risk of burning.
Italian here: risotto in a pressure cooker really gives good results! nothing like the joy of cooking it the traditional way but if you come home late from work you just put it on while you shower or what not and in 10 minutes you have a good risotto for a family of four.
Ribs and curries with lentils are what PC's are made for!!!
hey Ben, 8/9ths is a fraction of the cooking time as well!
