I’m new to this although my mother canned all the time when we kids were growing up. She didn’t want me in the kitchen in the way so I never learned. I’m in search of a pressure canner and when I type in pressure canner I get pressure cooker/canner. Can you can in a pressure cooker as there are no gauges?

This looks amazing and I am writing down the recipe. Do you know how much overall onions, potatoes, celery and beef broth you used for the 7 jars? Thank you so much. Love your videos.

I really wish you would have mentioned the highly imperative info that the potatoes (and all root crops) need to be peeled and boiled in water for 10 minutes prior to canning them otherwise it's increasing the risk of botulism! I tried following your video for my first canning event only to throw away my 4 jars because I didn't peel nor pre-cook the potatoes & carrots first. 😔 I later read that elsewhere and then did a little snooping, to find out what a no-no I had done and I chucked the whole batch to be safe! It was an expensive mistake at my own expense of not knowing that to begin with, since I only buy organic, non-gmo, grass-fed, and Pasture-raised foods. I'm glad, though, because hard lesson learned and I will never make that mistake again now!

I do immensely Love and Appreciate your videos! You have helped me to become more comfortable and confident in canning and a whole lot more!

I am Hopeful that in the future you would mention the imperative guidelines, no matter how many times you repeat it, because not everyone sees all your videos in order nor reads the books, so anything super valuable for food safety should really be mentioned every single time in case this is the very first video of yours that is seen.

🤗 ♥ LOVE YOU AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!! ❤️

Is there a reason why you didn't mix the beef and veggies together before putting them in the canning jar? Also, is there a reason why you didn't season the broth with the spices beforehand? It just seems like a lot of extra, unnecessary steps. Thank you.

I think you used Italian seasoning in your first jar. Do you use Italian seasoning or thyme? How much broth is required for 7 qt. Jars?
I will be making this in a couple of days. I also watched a video on beef vegetable soup in which they cooked the soup first then added to canning jars. Can I use a 15 lb measured gauge with a canner that has a pressure gauge and can I do back to back canning with the same water in my canner? Thank you. I love your videos.

@RoseRed Homestead — Ive done 2 batches of beef stew (in pint jars, trying to prep meals for one for my mother and grand mother), both batches siphoned horribly. Should I try a larger head space to start with?? Is it the natural juices I am having an issue with? … I am pressure canning at 500 ft. I burp my jars well, tried one not heavy packed and one well packed. I always let my jars cool completely in the canner (it's a scheduling thing for me … no other reason), finish the session, let it release naturally, sit for 20 minutes and open but not remove the lid to cool. I would think this method would keep them from siphoning from a drastic change in temperature. I have tried both my stove top and my instapot max. HELP! (anyone can chime in here really … im just looking for help)

My mom canned everything when I was young, but stopped when I was around 12 due to she started working. She used to make and can the best veggie beef soup ever and I have missed thatso much, but couldn't find her recipe. My mom has Alzheimer's so asking her was not an option. My aunt and I both quilt and can and we are always sending each other pics of the fruits of our labors. I had told my aunt that I would give about anything to have my moms recipe for her beef soup that she used to can and to my delight she told me that my other aunt has it and she would get it for me. My friend and I made/canned 16 quarts the other day and it is just as amazing as I had remembered!

So many things wish I could ask my mom how she did ___, but I am not able to which makes me very thankful for your sharing your knowledge on here. Thanks so much!

I am a new canner and really enjoy your videos. You are a wonderful teacher! However, I am confused about the raw packing. I was looking at the USDA Guidelines under soups and I don’t see where it says that you have the option to raw pack. Thanks so much for your help.

Hello ! I have an electric canner not the old pot. Would I do the same amount of time and process?
I am looking into the pot but have only used my presto for my pressure canning.
    Thank You!

Can you add tomatoes or tomato sauce with the water or broth? Will the acid content of the tomatoes be a big difference for the canning process? Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!

Could the raw meat be tossed with the seasoning first then that may lock in the flavors just a thought 👍🏼 love your show 💕
Maybe use a nice label with a spout so the source, liquids don’t drizzle all over the jars and counter. Excellent beef stew did you use roast beef or stew beef meat just curious

I'm new to canning, my question is when you do raw pack can you do water bath instead of pressure cooking? Also for chicken is it better to use frozen and thaw it, or use unfrozen? Thank you.
