Thank you so much for sharing this video, I've been searching for this exact video morning delayed oatmeal. I've just ordered an instant pot, waiting for it to come and this will be the first thing I'll try 🙂

Thank you for the recipe. I've used it a number of times as a guide for breakfast for the kids. When making this for the kids I use the same size Pyrex bowl with only 1 cup of oats. I leave the cooking time the same for those that ask about smaller amounts.

After making this the first time we learned that we prefer a little less liquid to oat ratio to suite our tastes. Isn't that the beauty of recipes? We like our oatmeal a bit thicker so we use 1.75 cups of liquid to 1 cup of oats. We also use half whole milk and half water. It's so easy to adapt to ones preferred taste.

Thank you Nili. I am happy to see I can cook it in a glass jar inside the IP. Just ordered an IP ultra, so looking for recipes. I soak oats overnight to remove the phylic acid (add the liquids + 1 Tbs of an acid such as ACV, kefir, buttermilk, whey,e tc… per cup of liquid) before cooking, so could prep it all in the evening like I do on the stove and program the IP to cook it to be ready when its breakfast time. Also soaking your oats overnight not only is healthier and easier to digest, but also cooks a lot faster since its not dry anymore. Thank you for your great videos.

I reduced the amount cuz my pot wasn’t as big as yours but when I opened the lid, the oatmeal had overflowed in the steam water. Was it that my pot in pot was too small? Mine was a 1.4 l. But the remaining oatmeal turned out great.

You have pretty colored eyes! Could my sole source of liquid be 2% milk? It wouldn't foam up or anything, would it? Also, when you pop out your frozen portions do you thaw/reheat in IP using the saute function or do you microwave? Very helpful video!

I’m not good with sweet dishes in the morning, but have found that I love savory steel cut oats. I start with a little sautéed finely chopped onion and celery, use broth & whatever liquid dairy product I have on hand, then at the end add crumbled cooked bacon or breakfast sausage & shredded cheese. With a fried egg on top if I’m feeling ambitious. =) Without the egg on top it freezes well for heat-and-eat breakfast on the go.

Thank you Nili! Your videos are very enjoyable and informative!
I just got a Instant Pot for Christmas. I am no cook, but am trying.
How do you defrost and reheat your frozen Ziplock bags of oatmeal? I want to try this, but wasn't sure what was the best way.
    Thanks!

Could you please let me know what bowl you are using? I used a mixer bowl and the bowl cracked. 🙁 I would love to do PIP in a glass bowl as well!) Thank you! I really enjoy your videos! THANK YOU SO MUCH! :0)

Does soaking overnight change the consistency of the oatmeal at all? Is it more cooked or thicker, or just the same as when you don't use the delay feature? Also, does the oatmeal splatter the inside of the lid? Would it be good to cover the bowl of oatmeal inside the pot? Thanks!

Thank you for your time and energy to share this helpful video….. I am still reluctant to use glass, because I had a bowl break in my old rice cooker on steam in the steamer basket,…..but I will try it again.,😁. Normally I use stainless pip.
Here a very delicious and aromafull variation: add raisins and 1 quince (is related to pears I think) cubed into 1/2" or smaller pieces…. it's a feast!!

Can't understand why they don't provide a programmable timer that can be set to the time of day you want the cooking to be complete (instead of programming the delay until it starts).  It would be so much more convenient for making your oatmeal every morning because you always get up at the same time but you don't always go to bed at the same time.

IP newbie here…. Couple of questions 1) That would be too much oatmeal for me. If I cut it in half and use a smaller glass bowl, would it affect the 15 minute time setting? 2) I like half milk half water. If I want to use the timer, do you think it would spoil overnight? Thanks!

Hi dear thanks for the video but I have a problem I used the delayed timer and in the morning my milk had all curdled up what can the reason be ? I am thinking as the milk was out all night in the Pot am I right? It was a fresh batch of whole milk bought and my vessel was all clean no traces of food or anything . I used 1:2:1 oats:milk:water added sugar and put it on delayed timer for 10hours to start in the morning
