Chef AJ, I love watching your videos. You have taught me so much. Thank you. We have a rice cooker, but I've been afraid to use it. I've just been making the pouches of rice in the microwave. It's about time I learned how to make rice in the rice cooker! Thanks for showing me. I have been following a plant based diet (and eventually plant exclusive) for 4 years. I am really enjoying your weight loss summit. So many great speakers, and I'm always learning something new. The past year has been a rough one for many people, and your videos are my little escape every day. My grown daughter announced this week, that she's moving out. I was just reflecting back on all the memories, and thinking how fast the years have flown by, and feeling a bit sad that I'm going to miss her, when your video came on. Good to see you Chef AJ. And Bailey too, so cute, she made an appearance in the background.

No need for any fancy machines. Soak and rinse your grains as much as possible like 24 hours for brown rice 48 for beans 1-2 hours for quinoa. Drain in a fine sieve. White rice can be tasty by cutting up an onion saute a bit and some (less than 1/2 teaspoon salt for 100 grams of white rice) add curcumin (yellow spice ) then add drained rice. Gently mix. Add twice as much water as rice. Mix . Cover bring to a boil. Lower heat as low as possible. Cook 20 or less minutes until water is absorbed. Take off the heat and let it sit for a while. Perfect rice. Brown rice needs nothing but a bit of salt. I always cook 200 grams of grains at a time. Quinoa need an extremely fine sieve to rinse- but soak them first. Chickpeas taste better the more they are soaked then cooked in salted water. Most people use WAY TOO MUCH SALT when cooking rice.
